Purchased a few bottles at BevMo Orange. Bottled on November 17th, 2009. No indication of ABV.
A- Poured into a Dogfish Head snifter, World Wide Stout pours solid black with a small head of tan foam that quickly settles to a silky layer and a thin foamy ring along the inside of the glass. There are a few patches of spotty lacing after each sip.
S- Big, bold notes of fermented dark fruits, deeply roasted coffee and espresso beans, dark chocolate, and black licorice. The big alcohol content is very evident but not cloyingly so.
T- The taste is immensely sweet right out of the gate. Dark and roasty flavors break through the syrupy notes -- molasses and Hershey's -- at mid palate. The finish has a Brandy-like boozy sweetness that coats the mouth with flavors of caramelized dark fruits, but overall the alcohol is very well-hidden.
M- Thick, viscous, and slightly syrupy in texture with a medium amount of carbonation that kicks in a moment after the initial sip, nicely cutting through the heavy mouthfeel.
D- This beer is incredibly drinkable given the supposed 18% alcohol content and how sweet the flavor is. I wouldn't want more than one bottle in a sitting, but I enjoyed every sip. This would be a good one to split between two or three friends. My favorite Dogfish Head beer thus far.

2011 vintage poured into a snifter
A- very dark with a porous tan 1/2 inch head
S- near perfect- chocolate, molasses, dark fruits dominate
T- taste matches the nose and so smooth...being a 2011 vintage definitely benefited the smoothness of this beer...still, this beer is nearly 20 percent and youd never guess...good achievement by DFH
M- thick and chewy...very very good, just what i like
O- i paid 15 dollars for this 3 year old vintage single bottle....should you pay that much for it? absolutely not...but IMO it is the best DFH beer brewed and one of the better stouts out there especially considering it isnt barrel aged and it is nearly 20 percent...quite an achievement!
