The stout version of Dogfish 120, can't wait.
Pours out a deep black color, produces a really nice roasted malt colored head. I was really suprised a stout of this ABV produces a head.
Smells of spicy fruity melons, watermelon, arugula, mint, warm rummy spiciness, anise, peppercorns, vanilla woody aromas as it warms. This doesn't fit the conceptual mold of a stout aroma at all. An array of Belgian Quad sweetness meet with a Triple spiciness, followed by Dubbel smoothness.
Tastes of spicy Mexican cinnamons with bitter chocolate, deeply roasted coffees, rum-soaked dark fruits,burbon-vanillas. This pushes into fine port wine/after-dinner congac in intensity.
Mouthfeel is so spicy, yet light and salivating it is a fantastic sipper. As a Stout-this definatley is a Dogfish stout-an Imperial Quad-Triple-Barleywine-Stout. Rather than the usual coffee-chocolate-maltly brew normally expected, this is a suprising and welcome change and satisfying reinterpretation. Thank you once again Mr.Calagione!

2011 vintage poured into a snifter
A- very dark with a porous tan 1/2 inch head
S- near perfect- chocolate, molasses, dark fruits dominate
T- taste matches the nose and so smooth...being a 2011 vintage definitely benefited the smoothness of this beer...still, this beer is nearly 20 percent and youd never guess...good achievement by DFH
M- thick and chewy...very very good, just what i like
O- i paid 15 dollars for this 3 year old vintage single bottle....should you pay that much for it? absolutely not...but IMO it is the best DFH beer brewed and one of the better stouts out there especially considering it isnt barrel aged and it is nearly 20 percent...quite an achievement!
