Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial Stout |  18.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, rich, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.

12 oz. bottle with born on date: 11/17/09. The words "A very dark beer brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley" on the label.

Pours dark and rather thick. Like maple syrup. 1/4 inch head that at first coats the sides of the glass and then forms some slight lacing before disappearing.

Smells like sweet coffee fortified with alcohol. Notes of burnt malt in the background

Tastes way sweeter than the aroma. Sweetest beer I've ever had. I prefer porters over stout as they tend to be sweeter, but this blows all the porters I've tried and everything else away for sweetness. Coffee and burnt malt mimic the aroma. A fruitiness as well, like dried fruits soaked in alcohol. Very warming as the 18% alcohol slides down the throat.

Medium-full mouthfeel. Borderline syrupy, but not too sticky. Like the energizer bunny. Not sticky enough to be distasteful, but enough so that the flavor just keeps on going, and going...

I give it a 5 for sippability, although it's not really drinkable in the normal sense. It took me 2 glorious hours to finish my first 12 oz. 120 Minute IPA. I'm expecting this to be in the same ballpark.

Highly recommended

2011 vintage poured into a snifter

A- very dark with a porous tan 1/2 inch head
S- near perfect- chocolate, molasses, dark fruits dominate
T- taste matches the nose and so smooth...being a 2011 vintage definitely benefited the smoothness of this beer...still, this beer is nearly 20 percent and youd never guess...good achievement by DFH
M- thick and chewy...very very good, just what i like
O- i paid 15 dollars for this 3 year old vintage single bottle....should you pay that much for it? absolutely not...but IMO it is the best DFH beer brewed and one of the better stouts out there especially considering it isnt barrel aged and it is nearly 20 percent...quite an achievement!
