A: beautiful clear, golden honey color, moderate head
S: I smell grapes, spices, light bready/malty scents, sweet and lightly floral
T: a strong initial sweetness, grapes and grain come through nicely, light and dances on the palate. Pears, grape and fruit are very prominent, slightly malty too which makes for a very nice overall blend and balance of flavors
O: I really like ALL of Dogfish’s ancient ale beers and this one is no different. It is properly balanced, has a muscular alcohol content that isn’t over aggressive, but rather blends in nice. That being said, I wont run out as fast as possible to go get more but I DO look forward to picking this up again. A wonderful beer that should at least be tried once.
