This is one of the more interesting beers I've had recently. As with most DFH brews, it's simultaneously intense and subtle. While the alcohol may seem high, the flavors are subtle and blend well on the pallet. Although it is a blend of a witbier and an ale that was aged in wine barrels, I thought the wine nodes took a distinctive backseat. You could argue that's a good thing, since this is a beer, but I think the hybrid of the two here was juuuust missed.

Overall this is a very enjoyable beer that is worth a try by everyone who enjoys good beer.

Deep orange, bronze color and mostly opaque. Two fingers of rich, creamy head on the pour never lets up. Provides a dense coating of lace with each sip.

Fresh orange, coriander and mild yeast aroma. Hint of white wine.

Dense, wheat-like malt character. Hints of corn. White grapes. Mild yeast notes suggesting cloves. Subtle herbal hop, provides a delicate spicy layer. Fairly well balanced. A little funky in the finish.

Full bodied. Yeasty, grainy texture. Slick feel and sticky on the lips. Descent carbonation.

Not bad. I think this is only the second double wit I've ever tried. I enjoyed the white wine addition. Nice complexity.
