Poured into a tulip. Hints of orange, grapefruit colored redness and pink. Fluffy white, 1 finger head that fades to nothing. Mild lacing.
Smell was very crisp with a fruity, dark berry, bitterness. Mild sweetness. Almost seems to be a mild belgian-like estery and funkiness.
Taste started off sticky and sweet with a mild finishing bitterness in the back of the throat. Nice presence of dark fruits (blackberry, rasberry and blueberry) provide a slight tartness with the syrup-iness kills the bitterness. Hint of belgian-like fruitiness and esters come through again. Dark fruit flavors linger in the after-taste. Very mild sweetness overall.
Mouthfeel was well carbonated. Medium body that was slick on the tongue with a slight stickiness.
Drinkability was fairly good. Drinks clean but overall its heavy. 10% alcohol doesnt show aside from the thickness in body.
Overall its an interesting beer. Worth a try and some may hate while others really enjoy. For me, one glass is enough. A whole bottle of this 10% beverage will be over-the-top.

Served in a snifter at Beelow's.
Gotta love it when your local bars get some cool kegs. This case in point pours a partly hazy sunset rusted gold topped by a finger of glowing bone foam. The nose comprises blackberries, light blueberries, very light banana, mild biscuit, light sourdough, and a pinch of allspice. The taste brings in more of the same, the berries matched by some Belgian yeast-infused bread and a hint of orange peel and light grass. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly syrupy feel. Overall, a pretty nice beer, one that I could see going well with plenty of foods (muffins and lamb dishes spring to mind).
