Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
In Festina Peche, since the natural peach sugars are eaten by the yeast, the fruit complexity is woven into both the aroma and the taste of the beer so there is no need to doctor it with woodruff or raspberry syrup. Just open and enjoy!

Poured out a pale clear lemon color, thin bone white head, marginal lacing. The nose was sour first, almost lambic like, with some solid stewed peach notes, citrus, and a bit of yeastyness. The taste confirms the nose, and adds a little breadyness, also not as as sweet as I thought it would be. Has a prickly tight mouthfeel, fantastic for the style. Highly drinkable and enjoyable for a broad range of beer drinkers. I hope they bottle this so I don't have to drive three hours to sample more. Hurry and get some while it lasts. They say they'll do it again next summer using fresh peaches.

Note their sign called this a: Neo Berliner Weisse style beer.

Poured into a plastic cup in the car before we went in to the Steely Dan concert in New Orleans.

A: Beneath the off-white one finger head that held up for some time, the color is a light gold with flecks of peach. Not much lacing.

S: Very subtle peach smell mixed with grain, wheat and light malts.

T: Better than I was expecting. Smooth, lightly sweet. Peaches collide with wheat. Citrus-y. Nice.

M: Light to medium with light carbonation. Dry finish.

O: A good foreplay to the concert. Could session this one after a bout with the yard.

Poured into my Notre Dame standard pint...

A. Pours a clear, pale straw gold with two fingers of fast-burning head. Lacing is non-existent. Head disappears in an instant.

S. Fresh peach, cracked wheat, some mild yeast. Really juicy and crisp.

T. Peach juice, barley, grain, bread crust.

M. A little light on carb and needs more wheat presence to round out the sweet peach notes.

O. An excellent Berliner. It doesn't have quite the body the standard Berliners do, with the sweet, sugary peach notes dominating. It's also not quite as tart as the more modern examples of the style. What it is, though, is well-made, closer to the classic style than most examples these days. While I definitely would have enjoyed a bit more graininess, this beer is refreshing and delicious. There aren't enough Berliners today, in my opinion. Festina Peche demonstrates why brewers should visit this style more often. Outstanding brew here.

A- pours a golden yellow color with a white head that leaves small lacing around the glass.
S- not a lot of aroma but I do smell fruit
T- slightly sour taste but not bad sour kind of like sour candy taste. Excellent.
M- smooth light bodied beer that has a dry aftertaste.
O- not bitter and not sweet slightly sour. Another great beer from the best brewery in the US. I would drink many of these on a hot summer day.
