Was excited to try this after hearing this year the Aprihop would be a little different from years past, as I wasn't impressed with this before. And DFH is a respectable brewery they turn out some pretty good stuff.
A - Pours a bit darker than I expected. It's a warm weather apricot brew. i was impressed with the head but the lacing wasn't as great as I would like. It looks tan maybe a light brown tan color.
S - This is where I was more impressed than anything else. Smelly fruity and tropical. Has a great IPA fruity hoppy smell to it.. The smell got me excited and I couldn't wait to taste this.
T - Well maybe i was slightly disappointed here as I had very high expectations after the smell. I notice that immediately the taste is very good. Like a magic hat times 100.. well i shouldn't even say "magic hat" as i don't want to degrade this at all; although magic hat is an apricot beer and quite sessionable if it's 90 degrees out.. i notice at first i really like the taste; however, it's not as good on the back end. maybe i just need a little more malt backbone.. but this is very refreshing...
M - a good amount of carbonation. i think i wanted a little more of it though i couldn't figure this one out. it is refreshing it has a nice light feel to it...
D - I would have another.. if someone had this at their summer picnic i'd be in heaven probably. it is not my first choice. i think it is a good beer.. very easy to drink and great for a summer day but there are so many good ipa's out there i'm sorry this one falls more around a B+ for me...

A - Copper color with slight haze, small white head, extensive lacing.
S - Fairly muted, flat hop notes, malts in the form of pilsner coming through loud and clear.
T - Hop is mostly in the form of grass notes. A mild fruity note coupled with a cracker and grain malt hit. Turns bitter on the close, illustrating the serious hopping.
M - Given how bitter the turn is on the close, it is surprising how crisp the feel is. There is a gradual build, though, and it does burden the beer a bit you move into the second 6 oz.
O - This hybrid beer promises fruit, but though I think it is a decent IPA - nothing special, mind, but fairly clean and thoroughly hopped - the fruit is mostly lost. The only hint to its presence is a certain sweetness in the middle. Supporting role, indeed.
