Aprihop is an American IPA brewed with Pilsner and Crystal malts. It's massively hopped -- in the continuous fashion, of course! -- and the flavor is complemented by the addition of apricots.

After fermentation, the beer is dry hopped with irresponsible amounts of Amarillo hops. The beer has a hoppy aroma, with the apricots playing a supporting role.

The flavor is rich with late hop flavors, and its bitterness is tempered by just the right amount of malt sweetness and fruity undertones from the apricots.

Found this 12oz bottle lurking in my stash, figured it should be drunk sooner rather than later as it was bottled 11 months ago!

Pours a pretty fizzy, dingy pale orange. Nice head, but it dies too fast. Lacing. Yup.

Smells quite malty, perhaps the hops have died down over time? There's still some citrus bitterness to be had here, and a definite fruitiness that, while not immediately apparent as apricots, makes sense once you know what to look for. Pretty good, all around.

Huh, still tastes good. It's sweet for an IPA, maybe that's the apricot sugar or the big malt bill, but there's a nice grapefruit flavor hidden behind the singed, syrupy malt and the (dried?) apricot funk. Booze is rather apparent. Weird, but pretty good. I wouldn't have complained if this were 5% and less heavy, but it's a DFH beer, so all bets are off...

Mouthfeel is a little syrupy, Aprihop seems heavy for a fruit ale. Carbonation is medium-low, finish is malty, hoppy and a little dry with a serious apricot finish. Exhale and all you smell is fruit. How odd.

Sam and his boyz don't always knock 'em out of the park, but as long as they keep swinging for the fences I'll keep buying their product. Aprihop is a solid RBI double.

One of my favorite beers ever, the dark, almost caramel flavor of the apricot is a much better compliment to the IPA style that you might think. A perfectly balanced beer and a great pickup if you can find it.
