Notes/Commercial Description:
Concieved and brewed by our pub GM Jason, Ryehoboth is a sunburst orange brew has a creamy head and mouthfeel. The Rye lends a smooth dry character and is accented by the sublte hop bitteness. Very refreshing! Get it while you can....

The 2010 version will be served on CO2 to allow the coriander and orange peel a better opportunity to be present in the finish. We also used Southern Cross and whole leaf Galena hops this time around.

On tap at the DFH Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth. Missed the brewery tours and I needed my DFH fix.

Pours a cloudy dark yellow with a one finger white head. Leaves some lacing. Carbonation is hard to see but it probably isn't too much because the head dies down.

Smells of malts, citrus fruit, and some honey.

Tasted very similar to a Blue moon, but better, like what Blue moon should taste like. Strong notes of sweet orange citrus in the middle with a lemon and slight grassy hops in the finish. The beginning is bready malt with a small spice note I attribute to the rye. Not overly malty and not hoppy.

Mouthfeel was on the heavy side of light. It had a nice creamy feel and was slightly wet. Little carbonation refreshes the tongue.

Drinkability was it's second best attribute, even my girlfriend, who isn't a beer drinker, loved it. It is perfect for a hot Delaware day after the beach.

Had on tap on Rehoboth. Review from notes.

A: Pours a slightly hazy orange with a small white head with little retention and minimal lacing.

S: Lots of honey and orange with some orange peel/zest mixed in. It is rather flowery.

T: More oranges and honey, some very faint spice, which I have to assume is the rye. The spice kicks it up a little bit on the finish.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Drinks pretty easy.

O: I actually quite liked the beer, but was confused at how tame the rye was. Had I been given the beer blind I don't think I would have pegged it as a rye beer. That being said, would order it again.

Nitro Draught @ DFH Rehoboth: This one poured a cloudy, darker golden color. There was 1 finger of a dense white head. It left lots of lacing. The aroma is lighter, but very nice. Scents of the rye, as well as juniper and some citrus. The taste is also good. It is very silky and creamy on the tongue and goes down easy. The taste has notes of rye, and a faint citrus and juniper taste. It is also a hint sour. Very Good!

On tap at the Rehoboth Beach Brewpub 7/26/08

Poured a hazy light amber color with 2 fingers of thick and creamy bright white head. Long lasting retention and good lacing. Smells of honey, spicy rye bread, and floral hops. Tastes of toasted grain, honey, pepper, and bread with a light grassy earth finish. Medium light in body, smooth and creamy with a nice spiciness and a hint of bitterness. Refreshing, low in alcohol, and very sessionable, a good summertime brew while relaxing at the beach.

Poured from nitro-tap at Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Appearance: Pours an amazingly deep yellow in color, very cloudy, with a generous size head that left wisps of lacing all around the glass. Head retention was also very good.

Smell: I get lots of light fruit florals up front, a touch of honey, a bit of spiciness from the malt, and some oats. A touch of alcohol is faint but a nice addition to the aroma.

Taste: I can sense some rye up front, but alot of the flavor comes from some very spicy fruit, again I sense some honey paired with a flower like hop tinge. The finish consists of a smooth malt presence that isn't dominating yet nice and toasty.

Mouthfeel: The added malt textures makes this one roll over the tongue with ease, so damn smooth it's unbeleivable. Minimal bitterness, light to medium bodied and stands firm on the tongue.

Drinkability: Wow - I was blown away by this offering, the rye beers I've tried in the past featured alot more hops yet Ryehoboth actually has a spice like maltiness to it that is toasty, robust and smooth to the core. One of the best Rye's I've had and another winner in my book from my favorite brewery who seems to never dissapoint, even with experiemental beers like this one!

Served on-tap at the brewpub 8/6/09

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, murky, turbid golden yellow, with an almost whiteness. A one inch white head forms and shows great retention. Lots of lace remains behind.

Smell: Biscuits, cereal, honey, floral hops, and a spicy malt aroma. Nice.

Taste: Incredibly smooth sweetness of more honey, white pepper, biscuits and some floral hops. A spicy finish.

Mouthfeel: The best part of this beer is the fantastic smooth and creamy feel in the mouth. It goes down so effortlessly that it could dangerously creep up on you. An absolutely perfect pair with beach weather and beach attitude.

Drinkability: This is undoubtedly my favorite Dogfish Head beer and could be my favorite beer this summer. It's far different than most anything else I've had, and is flavorful to boot. Excellent.
