Poured a deep, dark, orange amber color with a weak off-white head, yet fairly persistent lacing.
Smell is rather weak; yet, inviting, consisting of a malty, fruity citrus aroma of ripe bananas and peach, with a hoppy background.
Taste is a well balanced blend of rich malts and somewhat bitter hops that linger yet are not in any way overwhelming. A honey-banana backbone with a hint of pine provides an eclectic foundation. The strength here is not in any one aspect - malt or hop - rather, a brilliant balance as the two feed off one another.
Mouthfeel rich and full bodied, lingering long enough in the rear to apply the slightly bitter hop flavor to the back palate before sliding downward!
Drinkibility - not too rich or overwhelming and the alcohol and carbonation does not interfere.
Although I think this IPA could be improved with a more bitter hop aftertaste, overall, a very good IPA. Yet not quite up to par wtih regular 90 minute which I still think is among the best IPAs brewed in North America. This beer would make a great session choice.

From my tasting notes: As a double IPA I was expecting a lot and this one delivered right off the bat. As a bottle conditioned IIPA it poured a nice hazy copper with a sharp fruity herbal aroma that you could smell as soon as I opened the bottle. It may be an IIPA, but this one was more in the realm of a Barley Wine with a thick syrupy mouthfeel and complex taste. The Squall had fat chewy hops with a good balance of biscuity malts that helped keep everything balanced. It was a very impressive beer.
