Notes/Commercial Description:
A witbier bursting with good karma. Made with dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander, this Belgian-style white beer is a great thirst quencher.

Poured from bottle into tulip glass. From the brand new batch that dropped at my neighborhood Whole Foods so 2011 I assume.

Pours with one of the most gorgeous orange/golden hues imaginable. Super hazy with a generous foamy white head that just won't go away. Superb lace. This is what Witbier should ALWAYS look like!

Sadly the nose is rather simple but inviting with orange zest, lemongrass, white pepper, and biscuity yeast.

On the palate the flavors mingle into a marvelous dance. Despite the fact that tart lemon(grass) dominates, the coriander really shows up on the palate with pepper and a orange blossom note. A slight candied note too.

This is really light but has good grip and intensity. Sadly the tart fruit seems to whisk the finish away leaving one of the shortest finishes in memory. Which is sad because I want to taste this for hours! Just means you have to sip faster!

Overall a stunning beer that sadly falls short on the finish (it's kind of like a really hot/smart girl that sadly hasn't read a single book - you know... oh you're so pretty, oh you're so smart, oh... you don't read... awww.... I knew it was too good to be true....). But this is seriously one gorgeous looking beer!

Pours a hazy yellow with a brief but sudsy head that leaves little evidence that it had ever been there. Great flavors of the advertised orange, coriander, and lemon grass. Distinct notes of each throughout. Low alcohol and medium body makes this a very drinkable beer though the lemony after-taste can get a bit tiresome.

Enjoyed from a 750 ml bomber. Poured into tulip style glass

A - Nice straw color, Bright white head held onto the glass nice lacing

S - Smelled of citrus very pleasant aroma

T - very mild hint of the lemongrass but not overpowering, no after taste. Citrus not as strong as in the smell

M - Very nice light mouthfeel what I would expect from the style

D - Very drinkable, summer brew while sitting on the deck with friends

Overall a beer I would drink again. Not what I expect from DFH who are known for their big brews. Nice summer brew to be enjoyed.

This beer was a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Very pretty carbonation.

It had a very fresh, outdoorsy aroma. Some citrus, mainly lemon. A bit of spice.

Sweet taste, bready. Lemon and a bit of orange.
Definite coriander.

This beer was light-bodied and refreshing. Perfect for a warm summer day.

A: Pale, golden, with a slight opacity. Nicely carbonated - almost perfect. Good head retention in my Witbier glass.

S: You can easily smell the spicy notes, coriander, and lemon - A reviving scent.

T: Lemon and spicy/peppery at the start, but the lemon dominates the aftertaste.

M: Dry finish and decent carbonation. The mouthfeel is very light and would be refreshing if not for the dominant lemons.

D: This *should* be refreshing but the lemon notes just overpower. Sadly, it reminds me too much of furniture polish right now.

Note: I've been a HUGE fan of DFH since 2000 when I lived in DE - back in the "old" brewery where 120 min was offered in bottles of this size. They make supurb beers!

This is just one beer that doesn't quite suit my tastes right now. I would certainly recommend a bottle to try, though. I think I'll give this one another go after a round of golf in hot/humid July afternoon.

A - Pours a slightly hazy pale golden with three fingers of white head. Head dissipates rather quickly and leaves a bit of lacing behind.

S - Coriander is very prevalent in the nose, along with grain and yeast. Also some pepper and gain amounts of citrus. Very aromatic. Definitely draws you in.

T - Pepper and coriander up front with quick a bit of yeast. More grain taste in the middle with citrus and lemongrass. Finishes dry wit citrus zest and pepper.

M - Light crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - Overall a good witbier. Not something I would want everyday. A little thin in mouthfeel. I did enjoy the dry, spicy character.

A = A thin yellow with a chartreuse tinge. It has a short-lived head and not much lacing.

S = Most intriguing part of this wheat beer. The coriander and orange slices are noticed, and I suspect the lemongrass is what makes it intriguing.

T = Weiss bier and then the prevalent coriander, then the orange slices which I think lends a bitterness which is someone unpleasant.

M = Light weiss bier and crisp, fresh.

O = If it wasn't for that bitterness, which I'm attributing to the dried orange slices, I would really like this wheat beer. I think it's worth revisiting on a hot summer day with a barbecue meal. it would probably be very refreshing. Not a favorite for drinking on its own, though.

750 pours a hazy pale golden body with a small white head that leaves some pretty island chain lacing.

Aroma is coriander, orange rind, and lemon.

Airy mouthfeel is light bodied and has an ideal carbonation.

Taste has lots of coriander and lemongrass. Wheaty and yeasty elements are complimented by lemon and orange notes. Finishes a bit dry with a lemony aftertaste.

Possibly the most drinkable of the entire Dogfish line. Very quenching and an ideal warm weather beer.
