A witbier bursting with good karma. Made with dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander, this Belgian-style white beer is a great thirst quencher.

Poured 12oz bottle into New Belgium globe

A-Pours a hazy bright lemon rind yellow with two fingers of off white head.

S-Nose shows orange rind and spice with some yeasty notes and cardamon.

T-Nice citrus and spice in the flavor with peppery notes and a light acidity followed by a touch of yeast.

M-Mouthfeel has a light body, well balanced, and good carbonation.

O-Overall a great wit beer. Need to get some for the summer.

Pours a light lemon gold color with a small white head, which has good retention, and leaves nice lacing. The aroma has oranges, lemongrass, coriander, and wheat.

Tastes lightly sweet and easy to drink with oranges, lemongrass, coriander and wheat. Light and refreshing. Tastes great on a hot summer day like today.

Light bodied with soft carbonation. Finishes dry, and has a light orange and lemongrass aftertaste.Very nice taste for a 4.80 % abv beer. Worth trying if you get the chance.

12oz. bottle poured into tulip glass.

A: Pours a hazy straw yellow that's vibrant and lively when held up to the afternoon sunlight. A small cloud of yeast sediment can be seen floating towards the center of the glass. The head is thick and frothy, bleach white in color, but eventually fades down to a dense, creamy cap. Abundant white lacing down the glass is gorgeous.

S: Mostly spice up front. Allspice and light peppercorn. Some soft citrus as well, namely lemon zest. Slight hints of malt give a very weak, but present bready sweetness. Nothing outstanding in the nose, but a well-executed textbook example of the style.

T: The flavors are nearly the same as the nose foreshadowed, however the order of dominance has been rearranged. Lemongrass is the frontrunner, with less of an allspice flavor and more of a clove and coriander mix. The lemongrass weaves in and out and really adds a nice herbal touch to the zestiness of the cloves. Malts make a shy appearance bringing a soft offering of banana bread-like sweetness. Finish is mostly coriander.

M: I don't love the body, but I don't hate it either. It falls into the "just good" pool. A light medium body offers superb drinkability, but the hints of creaminess that I look for in wits falls to the wayside a bit and the carbonation that was effervescent airy upon pouring has settled down and become almost lackluster. Like I said, it's not bad. It's just... there.

O: I've sadly forgotten how much I love witbiers lately and Dogfish Head has done a wonderful job of providing a liquid reminder of why I was so attracted to them in the first place. Delicate summer-like flavors infused with the wonderful touch of lemongrass makes this a perfect mid-afternoon beverage. I was, however, fairly disappointed with the mouthfeel, which is rare for me to say about a Dogfish Head offering. I'm hoping it was just a fluke, but it's not enough for me to shy away from recommending this Wit to others. A fine example of a fine style.

Pours a light straw color. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Small white head with decent retention. Leaves a surprising amount of lacing around the edge.

Has a strong scent of wheat and spices. A little bit of yeast. Burst of citrus, led by orange and lemon. Overall, a fantastically pleasant aroma.

Wheat and grassiness up front. Lemon and orange from the aroma don't seem as present initially, but there is some lemon zest in the aftertaste. Spices come through nicely.

Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Not overly carbonated.

Overall, not one of DFH's best attempts, but a solid witbier nonetheless. Not the most complex, but it accomplishes what it strives to do.
