I'm not sure I can rate this to the indicated style. Not really an american brown ale, all the additions kinda take it out of the style. The color, also doesn't match the stated style. I have no frickin clue where this would fit, other than experimental or smoked ale. So, rated accordingly.
A - Pours an amber color with a light tan head. some lacing over the coarse of the tasting. Color was bright, no haze.
S - aromas of smoked malt, very slight though, not overpowering. Some malt sweetness. Some dark cocoa appears in the background, from the carob.
T - smoked malt, some nuttiness, dark cocoa from the carob, slight sweetness, and with a very drying character of pecans.
M - mouthfeel is phenolic from the smoke, some sticky sweetness, medium overall. not cloying at all.
D - overall drinkability is good. Can finish the 750 ml bottle without feeling bloated or alcohol-hazed. would be very good in the winter, by a fire. Would work well with a cigar. Very nice beer overall.

From a bottle, pours a dark copper brown with good carbonation with a fluffy off-white head. This is from 2010 and from the smell, hard to believe this beer is over 4 years old. It is very fragrant.
The nose is dominated by banana, caramel, burnt brown sugar, butterscotch. The flavor is a little peat smoke, roasted/fried banana, caramel, chestnuts. There is a little oxidation going on and for only 6%, the booze is biting on the palate. It is very sweet and full of sugary notes.
Overall, ehhhh. It might have been better fresh, but still holds up.
