A: Pours a very syrupy, clean looking black. Very minimal mocha colored head to start, dissipates to a ring on the outside of the glass. Minimal lacing, but the beer coats the glass with a sticky sheen.
S: Interesting beer. Initially, not much in the way of roasty malts that I'd expect. Get a lot more of the honey in there, clean sweetness. Also more of a tart, tannic smell, thinking green apple. As it warms up, get more of a sweet chocolate aroma.
T: Again, fairly unique beer. Initially on the palate, standard light roast malt is what I get, like a mild porter really. Switches to some semi-sweet chocolate. The unique profile is the tart cherry, or maybe green apple that I'm getting...similar to a clean cider. Honey aspect clearly impactst this beer.
M: She's a heavyweight for sure, syrupy, low carbonation. This is my preference for this style, so this was a positive. The bit of tartness in the flavor keeps it from being overly heavy though.
O: Enjoyed this one for the unique aroma and flavors. Liked the tart kick that it provides. Would like to see the roastiness be more robust, otherwise it's a nice change of pace.
