2011 vintage. Poured from a 750ml bottle into a snifter. Pours a dark black with a nice dark mocha colored head, which has tight bubbles and good lacing. The aroma has a lot of chocolate and some roasted malt and coffee notes, and there is a lingering presence of some earthy notes and some honey. The taste has those chocolate notes up front, and a complementing bitterness from the malts/coffee in the back. Again, the earthy notes and the honey are very complimentary instead of dominating (I noticed more of the earthiness in the taste than in the aroma). The mouthfeel is medium-thick bodied with good carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden, and the finish is nice and clean.
Overall, a fantastic and unique stout from DFH, glad I have a couple more of these around. This is definitely one of the best all-around stouts I've had.
