Notes/Commercial Description:
My Antonia (named after the Willa Cather read), is a continually-hopped imperial pilsner. This lager for ale lovers is citrusy, sweet and refined.

My Antonia started out as a collaboration beer when Sam brewed it at Birra del Borgo (hope you can read Italian) outside Rome, Italy, with owner/brewer Leonardo DiVencenzo in October 2008. In 2010, we began brewing My Antonia here in Delaware for U.S. distribution.

Hazy unfiltered straw-yellow with a large multi-finger frothy head that persists as equally frothy lacing.

Aroma of sweet, ripe banana-like malts.

Taste - first a blast of sharp and bitter hoppiness giving way to sweet undertones. Bitter hops persists much like a good IPA.

Mouthfeel, nice, smooth, and creamy.

Drinkibility good, alcohol sensation prevalent, carbonation about right.

I'm pleasantly surprised with this one. Flavor is outstanding for a pils yet the body remains lighter than suggested by the rich taste.

Dogfish "My Antonia" Imperial Pilsner 7.5% alcohol. A very classic Dogfish glass with subtle decoration. Served in a Pilsner glass.

A- Pours a crisp golden fluid that produces a heavy two inch white head that lingers for the whole beer. Lacing is thick and pillowy... beautiful.

S- Smells of fresh cut grass with sweet malts and a sharp dose of yeast in the back of the nose.

T-D- Upfront is a sharp hop bitterness with a chalky malt and yeast mix that tingles the tongue on impact. Raw piney hops are domiate in the flavors but distinct citrus bite is there as well. Mouthfeel is slightly acidic with very rubust alcohol esters stinging the palate.

D- This beer is one to remember in its excellent Pilsner qualities pushed to the limits of outright perfection. I do believe that if i see this one again i will buy it.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tall tapered glass.

Pours a perfect straw yellow, crystal clear with a careful pour, with a large foamy head of perhaps 3 fingers or more. Fantastic head retention leaves lacing all the way down the glass.

Smell is a bit malty and a bit phenolic. There is a touch of grassy hops with a deep inhale.

Malts hit first, then the balance comes through with a rather herbal hoppiness. There is a bit of sweetness here that helps to tone down the alcohol that is present, but the alcohol is still present. The finish is also a bit sweet with some warming on the way down.

Mouthfeel is somewhat heavy as expected, but smooth and relatively easy to drink. Put it all together and this is a fairly potent brew that can sneak up on you pretty easily due to its easy drinking nature.

In a pilsner glass the beer was an ever so slightly hazy gold. It had a thick white head that dissipated fairly quickly, leaving a bit of lace.
Fresh, outdoors aroma. Sweet. Mostly citrus hops.
Grapefruit taste predominated. A little bit of piney hops. Sweet malt, a hint of honey.
This was a crisp, refreshing beer.
Would gladly drink more of these.

A - Pours a slightly hazy gold/straw with massive head, even with a gentle pour. Head has great persistence and leaves a lot of lacing behind.

S - Bready malt, a bit of citrus, grass and some spiciness.

T - Bready malts up front give way to a considerable amount of hops.

M - Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and very creamy with a bit of dryness on the finish. Very nice.

O - This is a nice, unique take on the style and I would have this again

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pint 9.4oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The label has a short description of the beer and its abv. (7.5%) No freshness date.

Appearance: It has a light hazy with a nice golden hue and a tall rocky head to top it off. (The last glass has a much heavier haze.)The head has excellent retention and it clings to the glass leaving lots of thick chunky lacing behind.

Smell: This is lovely and full of fruity pale and biscuity sweetness with juicy hops. Notes of pineapple, peach and floral/citrusy hops fill the nose.

Taste/Palate: To start with I must say that there was less hop bitterness than I was expecting from the continually-hopped beer. What was there was in very good balance. As with the aroma I picked up nice tropical fruit notes on sweet pale biscuity base, complemented with citrusy hops. The finish is fruity and balanced with pleasant hop bitterness. On the palate it has a firm medium feel with nice lively and balanced carbonation.

Notes: This is just an outstanding lager beer and I would highly recommend this to anyone!!!

750 ml bottle pours a hazy light golden body with a tall white head. Retention is good and an abundance of patchy lace is left on the glass.

Aroma is sweet pils malts, spicy noble hops, grassy hops, lemongrass, and a hint of pine and grapefruit.

Mouthfeel shows a medium body and carbonation and is smooth and creamy.

Hops dominate the taste but are not overbearing. Grassy, spicy, and even citrusy in a Cascades kind of way. Solid pilsner malt base offers up just a whisper of sweetness but it manages to balance the hop bitterness for the most part. A hint of yeast is noticed. Finishes clean, with a lasting lemon rind aftertaste.

Very well put together big pilsener here. Tasty and highly drinkable.

Thanks to Sammer for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grain with some perfume hops and orange citrus notes. The flavor is pilsener malt with some lemon. Low to medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A pretty good Imperial Pilsener.
