Notes/Commercial Description:
For our first new 12-ounce 4-packs in nearly half a decade, we replaced the classic barley foundation of beer with a mild sorghum base. The hints of molasses and pit-fruit are balanced by vibrant strawberry notes and a unique complexity that comes with the addition of a malty buckwheat honey.

We believe health-conscious beer drinkers and the millions of Americans who suffer from Celiac disease can cut back on gluten while relishing the distinction and drinkability of this very special brew.

This is definitely a style of beer I typically dont have so this is my first time actually having a beer like this. I get a pretty sour vinegar smell followed by bright strawberries and some breadiness.

You get a nice tangy taste strawberry taste on the front of the tongue followed by that vinegar sour taste and then on the aftertaste I get the strawberries and a yeasty taste as well.

Wow this is definitely a different beer and I'm actually glad I tried it because I like it. For a beer with no malt this is excellent. The body is bulked up by the honey and it also adds some sweetness to balance out the sour and tangy qualities this beer produces. This is definitely not for the typical beer drinkers and definitely for the more open minded beer drinkers.

In a pint glass this beer was gold in color. The head was small and a faint pink color. It disappeared quickly.

The aroma was mostly strawberry. There was a little sweet malt. It also had an outdoorsy, flowery aroma.

Strawberry taste, sour. Some sweetness that tasted like honey.

I thought this beer was on the discordant side: very sweet, but sour, and they didn't seem to agree with each other. I'm glad it's only a 4 pack. Maybe I can get my wife to try one.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a little pinkish tint. It has a small fizzy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film.

The aroma is sweet chemically strawberries and floral honey.

The flavor is a mix of chemical fruitiness and vegetal malts with a cardboardy finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with fizzy carbonation.

Overall, I don't care for it. Weird chemically fruits with lots of off notes. I've had pops that taste more naturally fruity.

On tap at the DFH pub.

LOOK: Clear brassy color, minimal lacing.

SMELL: Birch sap, peppercorn, wild flowers, strawberry taffy

TASTE: Crisp, medium body, lemon grass, exotic grain, chocolate mint, earthy, blood orange, tart strawberries.

Even for a gluten free beer it is pretty far out there ... Strawberries and honey bring a ton of complexity to the palate. Good palate cleanser beer.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of honey in it, as well as some strawberry. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of grain and apple cider like notes, as well as some strawberry and honey. While all of these notes can be good in a beer, they don't go well together in this one. The beer tastes messy and is just not to the usual level of Dogfish Head beers. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured from bottle into pint glass.

Appearance- Thin white head that doesn't last long at all. Clear golden color, which reminds me of a lager.

Smell- I can smell both the buckwheat honey and strawberries. Maybe some straw and wheat too.

Taste- WAY more berry in the taste than in the nose. This beer has a sour/sweet thing going on that is quite nice.

Mouthfeel- Almost has a strawberry seltzer feel to it. The honey does give this beer a nice mouthfeel.

Overall- This is by far the worst DFH beer I've ever had, but that's kinda like saying "This one-hundred dollar bill is diirty." It's a good beer worth trying, but I will not seek it out again.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear golden orange with a slight hint of red. Lots of rising bubbles and a slight off white head that quickly fades into a thin patchy layer. Lacing is light.

Smell: A sweet, fruity, and jammy aroma with big hints of strawberry and honey. Upfront scent of strawberries along with some sweet syrup. Pale malt with hints of grains, yeast, and lots of honey. Also some white wine like hints of grapes. Some sweet molasses hints as well. A pretty interesting and nice fruity aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a sweet, fruity, and slightly tart fruit forward taste with lots of strawberry and honey. Upfront taste of sweet strawberries. Also some fruit notes of white grape. Sweet notes of syrup and molasses. Pale malt with notes of grains, yeast, and a big presence of honey. Taste is fruity and sweet but light and smooth while far from cloying.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Sweet and syrupy but light and smooth.

Overall: An interesting and decent take on a fruit beer. Very light but the strawberry taste is nice.

Hazy tawny copper color with some orange hues. Thin bright white head with large carbonation and no retention.

Strawberry, fruit punch, cherry kool-aid, honeysuckle, bubblegum. Very sweet on the nose.

Strawberry, bubblegum, candied bitterness from the sorghum.

Light+ bodied, thin and slightly watery. Carbonation is nettles in it's texture against the palate, slightly magnifying the bitter quality. Finish is short with the kool-aid lingering.

I am honestly not thinking about this as beer, but as a gluten-free beverage. The problem is that Tweasen'ale is trying to be both a beer substitute for someone who must avoid gluten, and it's also trying to approach the problem through fruit and honey. It doesn't make it on either front: it has no relation to a standard beer and the fruit tastes very candied and artificial in the final product. While I am a Dogfish Head fan, I think they missed the mark here.
