My 500th beer and 175th review on BA.
355ml bottle purchased by my girlfriend at Beer World in Largo, Florida. Pours into the snifter a hazy and bronzed red with orange hues and a yellowish, off-white head that subsides to a paper thin ring. A few dots of lace, but the ABV produces a dull appearance that resembles a barley wine. Aroma is bold citrus, Pine Sol, booze soaked wood, apple butter, and peppery, fusel alcohol. Taste delivers a complexity that one would expect from such a strong and highly hopped beer. I get sweet caramel, some nuttiness, apricots, Sultana raisins, juicy and leafy hops, a sharp citric bitterness, and hot liquor to finish. Full-bodied mouthfeel has medium carbonation and a spicy hop bite. IBUs linger on the palate with warm cider and a mild dryness in the aftertaste.
It took me an hour and a half to savour this ale and I really enjoyed the experience. 120 isn't a "proper" DIPA but it's still a complex and pleasing drink in its own right. Cheers to DFH for constantly reshaping my perception of what beer can be.

Pours a deep clouded amber with just a thin ring of head around the top. The aroma is interesting. The aclohol esters are strong and sweet, balancing against a floral note. The big 18% ABV comes up loud in the taste, as well, dominating initially and fading out quickly. The remainder of the flavor is hard to describe. The bad is full and thick and smooth. This is one to sip and enjoy, if for no other reason than it retails $10 or more a bottle.
