12 oz brown bottle poured into Sam Smith pint glass
A - a hazy orange fills the glass when held up to the light; when left unlit, the color is more of a darker/burnt orange with some copper. the head is sparse to form, and dissipates quickly, leaving a thin orange-cream colored head
S - well, to put it simply: hops, and a lot of them. quite over whelming, too. the bitterness is foremost noticeable, then come in some flowery aspects, lightening the experience a bit. there is some grapefruit rind, that might be a way of explaining the bitterness in the nose. the alcohol is what lies underneath all of this, not that noticeable yet.
T - the first thing I taste is a distinct sweetness on the tip of my tongue, this spreads back and envelopes the whole of my mouth. it is sweet yet tart, like candied rind. the finish presents a huge explosion of hoppy bitters in the mouth and some dry alcohol burning down my throat. the aftertaste is initially sweet, like a sugary sweet, but fades to hops and then alcohol. this isnt a very complicated beer, nor does it really get the chance to; it just kind of gets in your face and goes "hops and boooze!!!!" then it tones down when you finish the bottle. not bad, but with the price tag of about $8.5, not something I would want to buy again.
MF - the feel is quite thick and the carbonation is not terribly noticeable. this makes for something one really has to sip, no gulps here. the thickness is a bit unappealing for how much alcohol is in the brew, makes it a bit like a hop-a-hol slushie.
D - the drink is really hampered by the overall texture of the beer; if it werent a chore to drink it, and were a bit lighter the sure I would have another, despite it not tasting amazing

I heard the hype about this beer and had to give it a try. It's so good, sweet, malty, hoppy all at the right amounts IMO. This is a great beer and is one I will age and try years from now.. If you find it, get it. I would say Three Floyds Dreadnaught is the closest to this, but without the FFF signature crispness and taste. Love both beers, this is a must have I think.
