12oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

A- a very pretty, perfectly clear amber with purple hues. A white head sits on top, but doesn't sick around all that long. Decent lacing.

S-an interesting mix of grape and citric and earthy hops.

T- I'd never guess that this would work, but it somehow does. You get a muted 60 minute flavor, citric and earthy hops, that distinctive DFH yeast flavor, and a big dose of sweet wine. If I didn't know it was Syrah, I'd guess Zinfandel or Syrah due to the lack of dryness. Tanic and earthy hop finish.

M- lighter side of medium, dry on the finish from the hops AND the tanic qualities of the syrah must.

O- DFH pushes the boudaries again.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of off white head which slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: A very fruity and fairly sweet hoppy aroma with big hints of grapes. Upfront citrus hops with hints of grapefruit, orange, lemon, mango, and pineapple. Some grassy hop hints as well. Big scent of the Syrah grapes throughout. Sweet malt presence with hints of caramel, biscuit, grains, and yeast. Very forward with the grapes. A pretty interesting and good aroma.

Taste: Like its smells, a fruity, sweet, and earthy hop forward taste with big notes of Syrah grapes. Citrus hops with juicy notes of grapefruit, lemon, orange, pineapple, and mango. Grassy and floral hop notes. Big taste of grapes. Bready malt with sweet notes of caramel, grains, biscuit, and yeast. Very juicy with a laid back bitterness. A very interesting and good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, creamy, and pretty smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A pretty unique and solid take on a IPA. Has the citrus notes you expect with a very big grape presence that blends well with the hops.

A- Pours a light copper. Head is one and a half fingers, falling flat somewhat quickly. Lots of carbonation bubbles coming up.
S- The grape presence is definitely there. I am not getting any hop notes, or for that matter, anything that reminds me of 60 minute. A good aroma, but not what I was expecting. Grapes, and a bit of honeylike sweet aroma.
T- Again, I am not really sure that this should be categorized as "American IPA", despite the base beer being what it is. Starts a bit sweet, but then some grape flavors and associated tannin come through. Quite sweet throughout.
M- The mouthfeel was a letdown for me. I liked where the flavors were going, but this is a beer that needs a clean finish to it, I think, and I wasn't getting that. Kind of slick all the away around.
O- This is a hard to review beer for me. I like where they were going for it, but if I hadn't known ahead of time, I would have had no idea this was a modification of 60 minute. Good flavors, and interesting idea, but I think there needs to be some tweaks to it. Worth trying once, but I think I can check this one and move on.

A: all-natural cranberry juice, frothy pink head.

S: strong IPA hops, hints of fruit.

T: noticeably similar to the 60 minute IPA but with a muddled and elusive sweetness. the bitter finish of the 60 min is all but gone.

M: the hops don't stick around as with the 60 or 90 mins, the result being a beer that has practically no presence. a VERY minor aftertaste, but only sometimes.

O: it's the 60 minute without the full intensity of the IPA's hops. the added grapes are visible but don't seem to confer much of anything to the taste. a decent beer, but not a necessary one.
