Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a goblet.

A: clear, light rosy amber color with one finger of diminishing pure white foam head. Moderate lacing remains on the glass.

S: Earthy complexity results from a combining of husky grain and honest vinous fruit. Savoriness is bold but inconsistent with integrated floral hops barely detectable.

T: Begins dry, with fermented vinous fruit and bready pale malt. The middle becomes somewhat darker and slightly sweeter, with cherry fruit developing gradually. The finish is slightly bitter, with a stale, well-aged quality.

M: Medium viscosity, creamy and supple on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: Difficult to categorize, this beer represents one of Dogfish Head's more interesting--if not successful--experiments. While the base beer may be IPA, the finished product has undergone profound transformation. Wine-like qualities invade almost every aspect of it, yet never to the point of excluding the native beer qualities. Despite its freshness on the palate, it has an unfortunate fatiguing effect. The brewer should take what they have learned here and apply it to a stronger, more decadent base recipe. It will truly be ready for sharing, because a little of this wine must treatment goes a long way.

Another great beer from dogfish head to write home about! Maybe I'm just biased towards the company because I love their approach to brewing and the taste of their unique suds. All that aside, this is an incredibly refreshing beer despite it's potentially deceiving look. I would highly recommend it for an evening with friends or as a night cap.

Aw, that's cute. It's pink! Minimal head. The smell is some piney hops and a definite hit of grapes. Not wine-like, but actually grapey. The taste starts with some sweet grapey malt that it cut fairly quickly by some nicely balanced grassy hops. The mouthfeel is slightly thick with some moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty good idea that translates into a tasty beer.

I really appreciate the concept Dogfish Head went for with this one. Syrah grapes add a wonderful aroma and body to this IPA and give it a slight fruity tone. It all combines together wonderfully giving crisp notes of pine and citrus with a mellow finish of booze soaked raisons. I would buy this again for sure! In my opinion its a perfect autumn IPA. Quite the skillful blend!
