Champagne bottle, corked and caged. Hefty "pop" of the cork with a little vapor escaping behind it.

Very fizzy orangish color. All sorts of bubbly streams from the bottom and sides of the glass effervesce millions of tiny bubbles to the top of the beer. Very creamy head that's off-white in color and not only remained at two-finger thickness the entire time, but also laced the glass with chunky rings.

Nose has some ginger (who'da thunk it?) and some other yeast-citrus notes. Maybe a whiff of a grassy-earthen hop note as well.

Flavor is rather...bland. Almost like a hodge-posdge of flavors mixed together with no apparent direction. More of the ginger definitely noted, along with some estery fruit, cotton candy sweetness, spices. Finishes bubbly and dry, with just a whisper of fire from the ABV.

Nice body and fizzy/spritzy on the palate. Maybe I'm missing the gist of this beer, but I just didn't really care for it. Tough to finish the entire bottle.

Bottled in 2011
Poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance- Pours smooth and vibrant orange as fine particulates swirl in the current. Bubbles rise swiftly to create a white head about 0.75’’ thick which recedes back to the body, leaving no lacing. Held up to a light you can see the body evolved into a deep orange color.

Smell- This beer comes on citrusy, malty with a small hint of caramel; a reminder of warmer days. There is a lingering undertone of burnt sugar. The scent is almost invigorating.

Taste- Complex instantly comes to mind. Low carbonation allows for instant taste penetration of citrus and coriander with some other (as of now) unidentifiable spices. It finishes light and grassy and continues to linger on with a certain mild sweetness.

Mouthfeel- A fast carbonation sizzles on the roof of the mouth then disappears without a trace. Smooth and surprisingly light bodied.

Overall- Fantastic. Smells refreshing, tastes refreshing, finishes refreshing. I’m honestly surprised they would retire such a great brew. Definitely has a complex palette but really no negatives – everything blends very well. Great in winter and I imagine it is even more amazing in summer. 7.0% ABV keeps me content and makes the price point right on ($10.99 USD per bottle). Recommend for anyone beer-curious. Will buy more bottles to store for later use.

On tap at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Pours a clear golden yellow, with a one inch head, and a little bit of lacing down the glass.

Lots of indistinguishable spicing on the nose, I guess I can identify some ginger? A bit earthy and spicy.

The taste is similar. The ginger dominates. Some fruity Belgian yeast esters, slightly woody. Slightly bitter, can't tell if from hops (don't really notice them much) or the various spices.

Light to medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel, not that drinkable due to the heavy ginger.

This is ok if you like ginger, and certainly better than Urkontinent, but is still a little bit of a miss.
