Not usually a fan of this style, but I tried this beer and loved it! This was actually my favorite of all the excellent brews I tried at Brasserie Beck - a new Belgian restaurant in the city with supposedly the largest Belgian beer selection outside of Belgium.

Poured a dark brown color, with a reddish tone. Smell was of plums, cherries, pine, maple syrup, and something like candied ginger. Taste was most excellent, with all of the flavors mentioned before and a definite sour to sweet finish. The beer was nice and thick too, with a good amount of carbonation. Would definitely recommend this beer, a must-try!

Poured on tap into a 10 oz tulip glass. A very deep red with almost no light transparency and a creamy off white inch head. It has a very red wine like nose with the bitter sweetness. This is my first sour so I can't judge too much but it has a good sour sweet wine taste like a dessert wine or something. It has a crisp mouth feel with a moist finish. Overall quite nice for my first sour. It was aged and cellared by my local Beer Shoppe and I was lucky to try it.

Bottle from Total Wine in Federal Way, WA

A- Amber colored with a three+ finger head of large beige bubble. They dissipated quickly leaving heavy lacing.

S- All Lactic and acetic sour in the nose. Some sweetness at the end.

T- This is a beer that needs to warm up. It starts out fairly sour and metallic but at the right temperature the metal fades to sour/sweet cherry with a solid malt backbone. The sour is always there, but without the metallic component it is much softer.

M- Acid and carbonation, quite light for the amount of flavor in the beer.

O- Outstanding beer.

Poured from a bomber into a sampling glass.

Appearance: poured dark amber with a thick beige head that disappeared quickly down to a quarter inch leaving some solid lacing around the glass

Smell: aged balsamic vinegar, dried cherries most apparent. Those are the twos hat dominate

Taste: vinegar upfront, but that quickly passes and gives way to a sweetness that quickly yields to tartness. Lots of flavor quickly. Taste similar to nose. Vinegar and cherries dominate. No hops to speak of, typical of the style.

Mouthfeel: very light. High carbonation cleanses the palate and leaves it refreshed. Hard to believe that this is 6%.

Overall: it doesn't get too much better than this. Balanced, complex, and refreshing. Clean finish. You get a lot of flavor and a lot of drink ability.
