Was fairly excited the first time I tried this, heard it was one of the all time classics. Poured equal parts light brown and dull red with a little bit of head formation. Aroma was a heavy wood and proportional sweet and sour.

Taste, the sour was very minimal was my first reaction, the sweet a little more than ideal for me, to say the least, and any degree of soggy wood, much less to that extent wasn't built to leave me all that impressed. Some flanders just don't have that acidic or fruity bite, and this be one of those. Decently covers up the alcohol, but doesn't impart really any appreciable tartness. Not enough carbonation. If anything I'd say I pull out some cocoa powder and toffee over flavors more often associated with something sour.

If there was fruit, it was that raisin and plum thing, as if it were made with tea. Sorry, I just don't see what the fuss about this one is.

A 2 finger head quickly forms that has some nice retention. The body is a deep red and has some smaller carbonation bubbles rushing up to the head.

S Acidic and slightly tart upfront with some wood and sweet and tart apples

T Sweet and light tartness come forward right away and a light, sweet berries creep up toward the end. Well balanced and smooth drinking.

M Lighter feel in the mouth with high carbonation.

O Nice beer. I'm newer to sour/wild/etc and this one had nice tastes that complimented each other nicely.

A: Deep brown color with some reddish tinges. Thin cream colored head.

S: A bit wine-like with some red delicious apple, apple cider vinegar, horse blanket funk, vanilla and toffee.

T: Pretty delicious. Sweet and tart with big rich fruity notes and a pretty good dose of funk on the finish. Lots of red apples and caramel with some plum and vanilla. Very very drinkable.

Poured from 25.4 oz bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a nice mahogany hue with a one-finger off-white head, not really any lacing.

Smell: It smells like wine, to put it simply; tart and fruity, and I despise wine.

Taste: It's much better than the smell. It's tart, sour, VERY sweet and fruity, mildly boozy, and mildly metallic. Too much sweetness, in my opinion.

Mouthfeel: Fits the flavor profile extremely well; high carbonation and medium bodied, slight dryness to the finish.

Overall: My first real dive into a beer that is tart and sour, and while it certainly isn't unpleasant, it's not something I'd actively seek out again. However, it has not turned me off from trying different sours, as it isn't disgusting by any means.

My first beer of this style. Pours a beautifuly dark red with a nice sized head. Recedes quickly to leave some good lacing on the sides and surface. Smell is tart with some mild fruit notes. Kind of like a fruit lambic. Taste is tart to begin. Spicy throughout. Rich earthy yeastiness in the finish. Red wine. There is a great background sweetness that makes this very nicely balanced. Really tasty. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Very easily drinkable. Overall I really like this- much more than I thought I would actually. Will have to seek out some more examples of this style.
