Slightly hazy tawny chestnut hue. Thin, dense, well retained head leaves Belgian lace. Soft carob and toffee along with pronounced, ripe and juicy tangerine citrus in aroma. Clean, enticing and unique aromawise. Crisp, cleansing hop bitterness upfront in flavor is ensued by a mild caramel and dark chocolate combination. Sweetly citrusy, clementine hop flavor. Faint burnt biscuit undertone. Moderate in body, with a dextrinous, creamy, and full mouthfeel. Finishes firmly bitter, with fleeting powdery cocoa notes. Stormwatch is a unique, well hopped with Amarillo, but malt balanced brew. This is a chocolate splashed IPA if I've ever had one. Delectable. I'm glad a bought a growler of it. OG: 1.059, 46 IBUs.

On top at the brewery, poured into a 5 oz sampler glass. So good to have such a great brewery within a 15 minute walk of my house.
Poured a deep burgundy ruddy red color with a minimal head. The biscuity sweet malt was present to the nose, slightly overdone by the resiny pine of the hops. The taste was much the same, with slightly cloying sweetness at the first sip with the taste improving vastly to a pretty impressive IPA.
Mouthfeel was thick and creamy, but not that drinkable.

Brown/yellow body, little head to speak of. Some streaks of red.
Had a slight citrus smell with coffee and chocolate somewhere in there. Smoking ban in Lawrence helps with the aroma.
Tastes like a light porter...hops chocolate, brown sugar, coffee. Some orange or lemon hints. Ends with just enough kick to remind youre drinking a good beer.

Pours out of growler a dark amber to brown color, with a moderate head retention. Also a white colored head that laces a little, not much but still noticeable.
Aroma of malt, hops, citrus, chocolaty, roasty. very nice
Taste of chocolate, raost , hops, fruity esters, some coffee
Mouthfeel is smooth with some bubbly, tingling. Carbonation is just right to help balance the extra malt with the IPA character.
Overall a nicely done rendition of a malty IPA. Yes a malty IPA. It has a darker color than normal, with the malt character to accompany it. But it has a delectable IPA taste to help off set the malt character. Very Nice.

On tap at the saucer.
A- A nice medium to dark color for an IPA. NIce carbonation and lacing on the glass. Able to see through. MAy have been slightly on the back 9 of its life, most likely why this brew was a cheap buy.
S- Hops and malt. Not as much hops as i'd really like to see in an IPA. Its right where is should be with the malt presence, but overall if they hopped it up a bit and then evened it out with malt...nice. Fruit and fig, or raisin like taste.
T- A dark fruit flavor and a big grain presence. A little bland for a nice IPA. I do like the fact that Kansas is starting some brewery's up, but might take awhile to get them all up to par with some of the best in the USA..
M&D- This is definitely what the brew had to offer. I great drinkability.

Pours a dark brown with red hues in the light. It is somewhat clear. A thin light tan head forms on top of this brew and leavings some lacing behind.
Aroma is lightly hopped with some citrus notes and a big malty caramel tone.
Taste is nice. Good hop profile, with a bit of citrus and a little bitterness. An even bigger maltiness resides in this beer. Caramel and biscuit dominate.
Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and is incredibly creamy. This beer is also lightly carbonated.
Drinkability is moderate to high. Good flavor makes this beer a winner. Presumeably low alcohol also makes it quite sessionable.

Pours a dark hazelnut color, slightly translucent. Frothy head dissapears quickly leaving behind just traces. Hop aromas of citrus and grapefruit scream out of this beer, along with the brownish qualities: chocolate and a little coffee. Flavor is dominated by the Amarillos which is quickly followed by the roasty maltiness in the end. By far, one of the Free States strongest rotating offerings. Drinkability is, well I could drink this all day and I had to restrain myself against getting a growler. Went perfectly well with my portobello empanadas. Get this while it lasts!

Draught @ Brewpub: The first thing you notice is the color: It is quite dark for an IPA. It is a very dark, somewhat clear, coppery-amber color. It had a strong head that left lots of lacing. There is a good whiff of piney hops to the nose. The body is good, and extremely well balanced. A good amount of hops to the taste, with maybe a hint of chocolate and roastiness. This is an interesting take on an IPA, and quite good.
