Notes/Commercial Description:
Silver Medal Winner 1997 World Beer Championships - India Pale Ales.
This flavorful beer is made in the style of the India Pale Ale Style originally manufactured in Great Britain for their colonies in India, but with an American twist. The harsh travel that the beer had to survive required a strong, hoppy beer. The Hops and the high level of alcohol helped buffer the beer through its long travels. Made with flavorful and full bodied Pale Ale malt combined with a touch of caravienne for color and carapils for body, the rich flavor of this beer is matched and enhanced by a very generous portion of Centennial and Cascade hops. The Cascades give this beer its distinctive floral aroma and a uniquely American character.

Special thanks to Matt for this extra, poured into a weyerbacher pint glass.

Appearance: this pours a 1 finger head with a clear and deep brown/copper. Minimal weblike and spotty lacing.

Smell: I get a bunch of caramel malts with a hint of grassy hops. A slight twinge of metallic comes and goes.

Taste: Opens with a mild floral hop along with a mild malt profile. A one dimensional American IPA, with a mildly hoppy after taste.

Mouthfeel: light bodied, medium carbonation with a slightly coarse

Drinkability: I would have this at a bar which serves BMC and there arent other choices. I recommend this to those seeking an amber with a mild hop profile.

Sampled last night on 6/16/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a 'Free State' mini-snifter glass which I bought directly from their brewery/restuarant while in Lawrence, Kansas a few weekends back.

Pours a copper-amber in color with a thin off-head head. Some spotty lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is of sweet malts with a hint of caramel. The taste is the same that is followed up quickly by a bitter finish by the grassy malts. Perfect carbonation. Not a fan of the IPA style brews due to their hoppy, bitter finish. But one of the better ones I have tried.

Appearance - Bright copper color, I see it in the name. This head that leaves quickly with some decent lacing.

Smell - good blend of sweet malts with some bitter hops on the end

Taste - nice bitter start to the beer with a well balanced malt build to balance this one out.

Mouthfeel - Smooth bitter finish.

Overall - solid pale ale!
