This IPA, or RyePA as some may suggest, uses a significant quantity of flaked rye to contribute a soft, silky mouthfeel to counterpoint its aggressive hopping. Sizable quantities of Sterling, Simcoe,Citra, Eureka, Apollo and Amarillo hops are complimented by a subtle maltiness that holds its own while allowing the hops to shine in this orange-hued slightly hazy ale.

Split a growler of this with a buddy of mine after he had a bad bad day, glad this could brighten it a bit. Also thanks to mizzouguy for sending me so many growlers from this brewery. Served in a Russian River wine glass.
Beer is copper / amber, clear mostly, tan head, small bubbles, low retention a little lacing, moderate to low carbonation. I'm confident it survived the journey.
Aroma is biscuit and caramel malt with this subtle hoppy earthiness.
Beer is medium in body quite bitter but the forward is all biscuit malt, the hops are lost on the palate. I think of this as more an English IPA at this point than an American and as an English IPA it is pretty good. The malt is nice, nutty, bready, with a good bitter finish. More hop flavors would have made it better but I really liked it.

Growler shared by drambuh. Thanks Matt.
The beer is a clear, copper orange hue with a lasting, off white head. The aroma brings biscuits, toasted malt, hops. This beer smells and tastes like an English IPA. Hops are there, but play a secondary role to biscuits and toasted malt. While this is not what I was looking for in an IPA, per se, this beer is easy to drink. Smooth on the palate with moderately low carbonation. Light in body with very minimal alcohol presence. Good stuff.

I didn't know this was rye until I tasted it and asked, "is this rye" and they said it was. Damn i'm gooood :)
Anywho, poured a medium dark orange/yellow. Clear. Semi-rocky white head, I think too cold on the pour. But what do I know?
Aroma is a blend of citrus and pine hoppiness, with an underpinning of bread-spice. Hence the rye. Seems a bit 'harsh'.
Still, the flavors are quite nice. Citrus and pine play off one another so that one is predominate on one sip, and the other on the next sip. Again, spicy bread on the under-tones.
Crisp. Not overly hoppy as on the coasts, this is mild in comparison, but still a nice IPA.

Ordered in a 5 ounce sample glass. Was a beautiful orange amber that was slightly darker towards the top with a small head.
Smelled mostly like cascade and simcoe hops, which of course are piney and lemon in scent. The malt smell was a little smoother, rounder with more subtle sugars.
This IPA is actually more of a RPA - Rye Pale Ale. A heavily hopped RPA at that. It was very smooth with regards to the malt flavor, with more complex sugars present.
Mouthfeel was very good, very well balanced. Drinkability was good.

This is a Rye IPA, or Rye PA in case you're curious:
Pours a cloudy copper color with a one inch bubbley light tan head. There is great retention and some whispey lacing.
The aroma is nice. A good hoppy note showing some citrus and pine qualities. It's a bit sweet as well.
The taste is pretty good too. A decent hop profile with a citrus quality. Finishes with a big bitter note. A bit of a rye bite to it as well. It does however finish a bit sweet and grainy as well.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and moderately carbonated. It drinks really smooth.
Drinkability is fairly high. Good flavor and good body. Like I said, it drinks smooth. A decent IPA.
