*From Notes

Poured on tap at the brewery into a pint glass.

Pours an orange amber, that shows more orange when held up to a light.

Smell: Grapefruit, apple, some citrus. Slightly malty. The Galaxy Hops are really shown off here.

Taste: Much of the same, malts are more present but more complicated fruity tastes comes through. Some pear, more orange.

Overall a wonderful beer. Very fruity.

A: Clear but orange still. Looked lighter for an IPA of this aroma.

S:Citrus, piney, resin.

T: Wonderful. Passionfruit, grapefruit, mango? the whole shebang.

M: Lighter mouthfeel, which I like- not too filling. Very drinkable.

O: I think it's their best. Exemplifies the galaxy hops beautifully.

Pours a clear, gold color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, alcohol, and sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong citrus hops, slight flora hops, slight sweet malt, and slight alcohol. Overall, strong body, good appearance, good feel, but lacks complexity.

A: Fairly clear burnt orange. Standard, fairly small head with great lacing on the way down. Nothing crazy, but it does look very appetizing.

S: Citrusy, but pretty well balanced.Get a little bit of an alcohol smell sneaking in there, and a slight hint of sourdough.

T: Wow. Classic West Coast hops. Definite strong showing of Grapefruit, but its not without some more fruity tropical twang. The fruity taste transitions over to a piney aftertaste. Yum.

M: Even by the end of the growler it kept up the carbonation. Very fine bubbles give it a great drinkability without being too "poppy" to take away from the taste. A little light in the mouthfeel for the big taste.

O: Great IPA, one of my favorites. Will drink it until the supply at Free State runs out, but won't cry when its gone. It is a great IPA, but doesn't have any certain defining taste or mouthfeel that makes it any better than other great IPAs.

Thanks Jim (ratedz) for send me a growler of this… I REALLY enjoyed it.

A – Nice golden straw color, similar to other IPAs of this caliper. A decent little white head that left some small bubbles on the surface, this beer does a great job of lacing the glass as it is enjoyed.

S – A lot of fruit in the nose; Grapefruit, maybe a little Pineapple, and some citrus fruits. There is a mild grass sent, and also some pine resin, almost no malt smell in this one.

T – Smack in the face with hops, and not overwhelming more well balanced. There is a lot of grapefruit, some pineapple and of the grassy/pine resin. There is also the presence of some sweet malt, but it doesn’t take away from this beer, it adds to it.

M – Very medium balanced, and not too chewy. For being filled, shipped and refrigerated it was very well carbonated.

O – This was a great experience, it’s up there when it comes to IPAs, and it has a very West Coast feel to it. Hope they continue to brew this for the city of Lawrence, and maybe eventually a bottled version.

Served in a 10oz snifter glass at Free State.

A - Pours a hazy golden orange with about two fingers worth of fluffy white head. The head dissipated slowly and left a ton of lacing on the glass.

S - I could smell this beer as soon as they set the glass down in front of me. Grapefruit, mango, and other citrus fruits. Some slight piney and grassy notes linger, but the citrus fruit notes from the galaxy hops dominate.

T - Just like the nose, loads of citrus flavors overwhelm the palate. A slight hop bitterness lingers on the finish.

M - Smooth, medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Fairly consistent with what I would expect from the style.

O - Crisp, refreshing, and easy to drink. A new beer from Free State that immediately became one of my favorites from them. I took home a growler of it to enjoy a few nights later.
