Appearance: Pours a very warm honey color. Mostly clear, but has a touch of haze. Moderate carbonation. Nice 1/2" of white head forms, which reduces to a slight cap of foam.

Smell: First thing that comes across to me is a lot of florals. Some maltiness backs that up, as well as some citrus/lemon. Nicely balanced, and the florals are very nice.

Taste: A lot of caramel malt backbone shows up initially. Again, some citrus and especially lemon come out after that, followed by lots of nice florals. It leans more towards malt than hop in the taste, which I did not anticipate after the nose. Good, but not great taste.

Mouthfeel/Overall: Light to medium in body, nice carbonation presence. About right for the style. Moderately dry finish. Overall, I liked the beer and would have again. It leans more towards being a pale ale than IPA to me though, with those great floral notes and ample malt presence.

12 oz bottle, best by 4th week of November. Pours clear golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is piney, resiny, fruity, peppery hops.

The flavor is bready caramel malts with some fruity resiny hops that leaves a good sized bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied.

Overall, a solid IPA.

Copper colored brew with an inch thick of off white head. There is some light Brussels lacing. Excellent clarity. Aroma is of floral hops and sourdough bready malt. The flavor is full on floral hops and light malt. The finish is very clean and the hops are very light. The body is light and dry.

My neighbor brought over a storm chaser IPA that is quite nice and definitely a sessionable IPA for the SUMMER TIME! The beer poured clear copper color with white head that is leaving a very nice lace. The scent is faint bitter hops. The taste is a decent balance between malt and bitter hops with some slight lemon/lime citrus. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a good summer style beer.

BBD of 4th week in September

Pours honey colored with 2 fingers of pearl colored head. Great lacing & good head retention

S: Grassy & lemony, scents fade a bit as it warms

T: Grapefruit, orange peel & grassyness & catty notes up front. Grassyness & grapefruit as this warms, a bit of pineapple too, plus serious crispness. Finishes crisp, grassy & dry

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, decent balance wish this had a little more body though

A nice summer time brew with enough hops to hold your interest

I like a heavy, alcoholic beer that has a resilient head. This one scores great from me for its ability to cling to the inside of a pint glass.

Served on-tap at Cinetopia dine-in theater at Overland Park in Kansas.

A: This beer has a lovely appearance. It's dark for an IPA and could easily pass as an amber lager with its thick frothy head. It has an amber glow that is transparent and inviting. The rings on the inside of the glass stayed active for over an hour while the movie went on (enjoyed during a movie at Cinetopia in Overland Park, KS). Lovely and bonus points here from me.

S: Delightfully hoppy, crisp and fresh. Nothing too unexpected - notes of green apple and lemon are possibly hidden away deeply, perhaps some grapefruit as well.

T: A wonderfully hoppy beer that isn't too biting or bitter. A bit of a citrus tart underneath. Hoppy and malty (which you would expect with a nearly amber appearance) with a delightful caramel aftertaste. Unexpectedly vibrant and balanced for an IPA.

M: Crisp, smooth, somewhat tart, fairly bitter and a good balance of carbonation. I couldn't ask for any more from an IPA in this category.

O: Definitely sad that I can't get this one on tap at my local watering hole!

Good Stuff

I spent a week in Kansas and tried a different beer every night. This unfortunately was from my last night in town. I would have been happy as can be drinking this every night.

Pouring it out of the bottle into one of those mini 6 oz. hotel glasses, it has a rust color. There's just enough head. Enough to generate a splendid aroma. It has a great smell and a great taste of IPA. It's not overly bitter. The only problem is that I think the taste and smell are a little weak.

12oz bottle from LambicPentameter (thanks man!). Best by 8/14, so I assume bottled 5/14. Served in a goblet.

Pours a clear honey gold with two fingers of white head. A thin layer persists, leaving healthy sheets of attractive lace.

Smells of orangey citrus, cracker and grass. Simple but just fine.

An earthy citrus flavor leads, followed by grass, cracker, pepper and a tiny bite that might be alcohol. Smooth and easy drinking.

Fairly light in both body and carbonation. The finish is crisp with citrus peel and a little bread.

I can see why they label this a summer IPA. Stormchaser is an unassuming, non assertive IPA that is smooth, flavorful and goes down easy on a hot day. A considerable step above the thin weakness of a pale ale or session IPA.
