One of my top 3 favorite Stouts. Its big creamy and delicoius. Great sweet flavors of roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolat to start. Then there is the roasted espresso and kenya beans added that makes this beer so great, deep rich dark espresso flavors. There is a mild hop presence that makes this beers big front end balanced and not to sweet helping it's drinkability. You could really drink this one warm for breakfast with a piece of crusty italian bread toast. I would but they don't open til lunch and don't sell growlers. YET!

Poured a deep brown hue with a one finger frothy tan head. There was good retention and very good lacing.

The smell featured a mix of dry coffee and sweet bready malts.

The taste started with a sweet caramel that slowly bled into a fry roasted coffee toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style with s dry finish.

Overall a tasty dry stout.

I thought this used to be just "Damned Good Stout" but I guess they kind of changed it up a bit. Since they did it has been very hard to get some as a bunch of times I went down to Bar they were out of it.

But when I did get it, it was excellent. Really really good. Pours a nice dark brown, almost black like coffee with a full tan head that lingers on the sides of the glass. The aroma is of rich roasted malts and a hint of sweetness from the sugar used. It has a nice aroma of coffee as well, but it is very faint. The taste is phenomenal - great roasted malt flavor combined with a coffee aftertaste with alot of sweetness. The carbonation is perfect and it feels really smooth from start to finish. I could drink this all night, especially with a mashed potato pizza. One of my all-time favorite beers - try this if you get a chance in New Haven.

Splitting a growler with fish113d and waldo567.
I am pouring into a small glass at a slightly chilled temp.

The beer pours pitch black with a creamy tan head that fades to a thin edge layer that hangs out through the tasting.
Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, espresso beans and roasated malt. I get just a hint of brown sugar in there as well.
THe first sip reveals a fairly thick body and very fine carbonation, texture is silky smooth. Almost a creaminess to the beer.
Flavor starts a little sweet with chocolate and again brown sugar mixing before rolling to roasted malt and espresso beans. The espresso leaves a slight bitterness on my palate, asking me to sip again for the sweetness up front.
The roasted flavor definitely has staying power in my mouth reminding me of the beer throughout. The beer goes down very smoothly with no hint of ABV anywhere. Quite a nice beer to enjoy on a cold winter nite. Go get it on tap now!

Reviewed at BAR on my phone... please forgive any odd auto corrections.
Poured to the brim, not much head, but that's due to the pour.
Smells is a bit odd, cold coffee and lactose... almost a sour type of smell. Taste is just like the smell, but the sour is first, then smooth into a coffee finish with a lot of roasted flavors then followed. This sour punch up front, though, I don't think is what they are going for. Maybe the lines are REALLY dirty? possible initial stages of infection? If this is actually what they are going for, I think they overdid it with the lactose. That initial up front is off-putting. It does smooth out on the finish with a nice creamy roasted coffee flavor, though. To compare, espresso teri blows this out of the water. This one is medium bodied, a little on the light side actually.
Asked about the lactose, was told the brewer is not here, and she didn't know. I guess she asked someone else, no lactose... there must be something wrong with this then.

Nice looking beer with a nice big thick creamy tanish head. Nice head retention, it sticks around throughout the whole pint.
Man, what an amazing smelling beer. This has much better aromas than their usual stout. Smells like sweet creamy coffee/esspresso. Very defined and pronounced aromas.
Nice smooth stout. Big nice espresso characteristic with the a nice smooth and amazingly creamy backbone to this brew.
Rich, silky, and smooth mouthfeel.
This is a pretty drinkable stout at 7.2abv. I enjoyed this beer with some live music very much. I would suggest this is better than their standard damn good stout.

Had on tap while waiting for my mashed potato pizza. It was served in a pitcher. The head was beautiful and creamy with a nice chocolatley tint to it they held on for a while.
The taste was a combination of chocolate and, espresso with a mouth feel of a nice smooth stout.
Very drinkable but by the time the pitcher was finished I felt full. I truly enjoyed the beer and liked the variation with espresso as it's usually just called "damn good stout". If your in the area I recommend this beer.

Thanks to Geff at the bru room for providing Sulldaddy this wonderfuly treasure! Poured from a growler into a pint glass...

L- Fading brown/tan creamy head...leaves a bit of oily residue on surface but nothing special.

A- Mocha chocolate with a big bitter coffee aroma along with some very slight hops also...nice!

T- Lots of bitter coffee tones up front with some toffee and chocolate body that sticks to my mouth..veyr sticky...big coffee w/ cream aftertaste along with some nice roast flavors! Yummy!!!

F- Very thick and cream; coats tongue & hangs on for what seems like forever; slight alcohol detected as I drink the growler, but very very nice! Palate killer!!!

D- Help..I'm in love! What a great session brew! We killed this growler in a little over an hour between 2 of us...great brew!
