Wine shop with an awesome and ever increasing selection of beer. Easily in the top 3 bottle shops for craft beer in Melbourne. Seem to always have a couple of different Cantillon on the shelf. Lots of stuff from the USA, UK, Belgium, NZ, Australia.
Also run the super awesome Purvis Beer which as the name suggests is all craft beer w/ a bit of craft cider. Probably the biggest craft beer selection in Melbourne.

I just moved to Melbourne from Chicago (an ever expanding hub of amazing craft beer) and was thrilled to finally find a place in Australia that knew what craft beer was and sold it at decent prices.
The selection is amazing, as mentioned they have a ton of stuff frrm Europe, they even have a very good selection of some of the more limited Mikkeller releases. The American selection was understandably limited mostly to West Coast breweries.
They also have great tastings, though I'm not sure how frequent they are.

Now why can't Sydney have something as good as this??? Insane selection. Heaps of Australian, New Zealand, UK, Belgium, and German beers. From reasonable to expensive. That does figure with importing so no big deal. Excellent pricing on the US and Canada micros and they do find some very odd stuff that is quite interesting.
Adam knows his beer and is quite helpful. Would be a world class store in the US and it is in Melbourne. Great shipping on stuff ordered over the internet!!!! Only real issue is their website is harder to navigate around than others but that is just a small issue.

Selection - One word. Genius. Newky Brown Cans in the fridge... love it. Love the amount of New Zealand beers available and the cider section is great also. The UK selection is also fantastic The Australian craft brew selection could probably be expanded but I appreciated room limited.
Staff - Knowledgeable without being wankers. Rare. Very friendly as well and very helpful and will answer questions.
Prices - Reasonable. Where else are you going to get this stuff from anyway?
Do yourself a favour - attend the beer tastings.

Was there today for the Australian micro tasting. These things are a bargin, $5 for 10 samples..anyway, both a decent selection of aussie micros as well as LOTS of imports. They offer decent deals & don't seem too overpriced. Most of the guys working there seemed like they know their stuff. They had some beers on their shelf that have only been out for a week or two (a sign that they keep up to date)
The "beer hall" is impressive with beers from everywhere. Lots of "giftpacks" available too for those trying to convert people.
My only complaint is that they aren't closer to where i live:) maybe a good thing?

Purvis is my beertopia. When I'm down and I want a beer pick me up. Its the place I venture to. They have the best beer selection in Melbourne. Their alcohol and wine selection is good too.
The staff are friendly and helpful. You can also join their club and when you buy stuff it accumulates points which leads to something I think. hehe.
The prices are pretty cheap compared to other places. So.. if you got nothing to do and a whole lotta cash to blow. Go to Purvis. You wont be sorry. Heh. You would think I worked for them.

Purvis has a wide and regularly changing selection of British beers
They also have a good range of Victorian micro breweries.
The staff will offer advice (I dont know enough yet to know how good that advice is ) but they take time to find the sort of beer you may be after.
German and Belgian beers so far are not a fancy of mine so I havent looked for them so dont know what sort of selection they have.
The place is not flashy has no bells and whistles and would appear to have a fairly comprehensive wine selection as well
The thing I like the most is that you will always find a beer you havent tried before.
Prices seem around standard for most brews

its a bit out of my way, but given the chance, purvis is the place to go for quality alcohol of any kind. (the peppercorn infused gin being a good example).
very cheap compared to anywhere else, for any style of beer you want. join their cellar club and get extra bonuses. the staff know a little more than most in here as well. they have a great selection of beer, and always have my standard favorites in stock. the wine and spirit range is also good for those who are interested in those areas.
they often have beer tasting afternoons which go off. ive been able to get to know a lot of the micro brewers around victoria well because of these.
all in all a top place to make your beer purchases. if only it wasnt so hard for me to get to, youd never get me out of the place!

Was stoked to find that this was our new local when moving into the area. I was blown away by the selction of fantastic beers, the service and the prices.
Where to start? Firstly, the local industry. These guys cover all the local mircobrews. They stock them all and their entire range. All the Mountain Goats, Holgates, Grand Ridges, Buckleys, Emerson etc are always on hand. Not to mention when a seasonal beer arrives they are always the first to stock it.
Internaltionally they are super. All the Belgiums & Germans from the bigger names to the smaller names. Thought I had seen all that was avaliable in Australia before I found this shop. Got a good range of other Euro beers with a few from Asia and other parts.
English beers a re a bit of a specialty for them. They stock at least a dozen types of 500 mL english beers from Wytchwood to XXXB and Lords Beer.
A great staff that seems knowledgable and helpful. Good prices too. A great place to do your beer shopping.
