I had the pleasure of visiting the Flying Pig w/ BitterBeerFace and mughugger along w/ gottajiboo2, Phatz and friends after the Baltic Thunder release at the Drafting Room.

The atmosphere is great first off, with so many flying pigs everywhere and lava lamps along with leather couches and a nice wooden bar. There are plenty of flat screens to watch the game if you choose to. Our service was very friendly and prompt, although we sat near the bar, an area that can sometimes get neglected.

The selection was outstanding w/ many east coast favorites like Storm King and Smuttynose winter. They have rare stuff and cask ales too, but the cooler selection (bottles) and drafts are all well adverstised on chalk boards around the bar.

I found the quality to top notch and the ale I tasted was fresh. I haven't tried the food, but I hope to return another time to spend more time there. I found the value to be very reasonable, the atmosphere was very homey and I didn't want to leave - A great place to share a beer no matter what your taste.

One of my favorite local establishments. Great place for hard to find bottles, particularly sours. Their draft list is pretty good, and can have some excellent beers from time to time. For bar food, the Flying Pig is excellent - the Pork sandwiches are a must. Always a favorite, worth a stop if you're in the area!

Great local bar. The beer selection is top notch, both draft(19+) and bottles(50+). The food is great bar fare food, no fancy dinners here. The potatoe skins and the sheppards pie are the best in the area. Also all the sandwiches are very good, the Barnyard is my favorite. Very resonably priced, most drafts are $5. Including the top notch beers like Pliney the Elder, Bells two-hearted, FBS, or Racer 5. Strong selection of imports on draft.

If you love beer this is a must see local dive bar. The waitstaff is much improved, very knowledable about the beers they have, and right on with a suggestion if you tell them what kind of beer you do like. They also have some "aged" bottled beers you can chose from, like a DFH 120 from 2006, and this changes as they pull beers up from the cellar.

Transcribed from undated notes, probably early-to-mid June 2009.

The squat, white stucco building seemed incongruous as compared to its neighbors as I walked up East King Street having just disembarked from SEPTA Regional (R5) at the nearby station. It looked to me like a southwestern structure more than something that I would expect on the Main Line. Entering, a coat rack, two white leather sofas and a chair sat to the immediate right in the corner by a couple of windows. The "U"-shaped, hammered-copper-topped bar was in the back right corner, directly aft of the doorway. The lavs were to the left end of the bar, followed by the entrance to the kitchen. To the left of the doorway were a series of high tables and chairs followed by a mini-sea of standard tables and chairs.

This was not a huge venue and my first server, Deena, told me that it can get packed at times. My other server, Suzanne, laid the history of the place on me: it used to be a biker bar (I can totally dig that) and the current owner put a much-coveted pig weather vane on the roof as a good luck charm. That led to the place's name as well as all of its porcine inhabitants. People donate pigs all of the time so that the place is puerco-central. Fortunately, no local pork came to disrupt my afternoon. I am allergic to pigs in cruisers, dig? It was a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to which I would return in a heartbeat.

Food: I had a groovy egg sammich as a late-breakfast/early- lunch gig. There seems to be a myth that I do not eat and I'd like to lay that to rest. I love to eat! Sometimes, I do so two or three times a day. This was one of them.

Beer: Nine AmeriCAN CO2 taps, three Belgian taps, and one rotating cask. Twenty-four bottles. Best of all, they will fill a growler with ANY of their drafts! Yow!

I just stopped in here on a Friday after work for a few beers on the way home. It's a decent size place with a nice wood bar with about 10-15 seats. Great draft and bottle selection. Live Bob Marley was on TV and playing over the speakers. Great atmosphere. I could've spent all night there. A guy next to me was eating a "Cheesy Pig" which looked delicious. Bartender was courteous and service was good. I did not have to wait for a refill. Prices seemed reasonable as well.

I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone.

visited on 7.18.09 after Todd's wedding prior to his reception.

first off - I walked in and immediately saw PtE on tap - I knew I was in a good place. very woody and dark and saloony kinda place (which was good). there was a nice L shaped bar in the corner - TV's all over and flying pigs hanging from all over the ceiling (go figure). 14 or so beers on draft - almost all of them were awesome - constantly rotating once one empties. I would guess there were about 240+ bottle offerings. too many to count. they do serve macros but not many. prices were really reasonable. great visit - will definitely be back.

A very comfortable and pleasant vibe at this corner bar in town. Have been here after work on several occasions. A mix of people frequent this place. Lots of wood, windows and even some sofas. A quite large and varied draft and bottle selection. It's obviously carefully chosen by a beer enthusiast. No beer prices are listed on the blackboards but beer prices are about average. Don't know of any other local place that frequently stocks a plum lambic. They even ordered some bottles of Cantillion after I mentioned how much I like it. Decent and reasonably-priced menu of pub-style grub, many sandwiches and a few entrees. Generally good and pleasant service. Located near the R5 Malvern station. There's a free town lot a block away.

Small, dark dive where even a handful of people can sound like a crowd. Patrons don't come for the atmosphere, they come for a stellar beer selection. Chalk boards line the walls listing the ever-rotating beers on tap. And there's at least 30 at any given time. Plenty of bottles, probably over 50. Usually live music on Saturdays. Otherwise, good jukebox and plenty of plasma TVs. Reasonable and food isn't half bad, either. I suggest going on a random week night or earlier in the day to get decent service and a seat - there aren't too many.

The Flying Pig is by far my most favorite restaurant ever. There is literally no better place on the main line to catch a Phillies game belly up and enjoy some of the finest brews around. I will agree with previous posters that the service is a bit 'iffy' but it seems to be because a.) there is always a new waitress, and b.) that waitress is usually the only one for the entire bar (I've even seen them being the only bar tender as well). So I dont blame it on them, more on the owners. Anyway, thats why you need to get there early, often, get a seat at the bar, and get to know the people there and you're set. The selection is incredible, always new beers on tap and they have a bottle conditioned menu with anywhere from 10-20 beers available. Finally, the food. It's bar food, nothing gourmet, but it is incredible. If you go, don't even look at the menu, just get the cheesy pig. Trust me on that.

Hit this place with my beer buddies as part of a little beer tour of the area. The Flying Pig, followed by TJ's, followed by Teresa's Next Door.

Heard awesome things about the Pig... but our experience didn't live up to it.

Decent tap selection and really nice bottle selection. Our waitress, however, was only frustrated and nonplussed when we ordered anything out of the norm. She'd sigh heavily and mumble about not knowing if they actually had this or that beer. Her efforts to check each time we ordered something meant we'd wait 15 minutes or more, watching her furnish all tables around us, while we still waited for our beers. Sometimes she'd bring them, other times, after all that wait, she'd just mention in passing they were out.

Ate some nachos and such, as anyone who's been to Teresa's knows it worth saving your beer and food appetite for there. The food was average. Okay. What we'd expect.

The place was also a smokehole filled with locals. You couldn't help but feel those "look at them outsiders over there" glances. Not a very conducive atmosphere for beer enjoyment or exploration. And the waitress only made it 1,000 times worse. In her defense, I think she was single-handedly serving all tables in the entire establishment.

As it's located smack dab in a neighborhood of rowhouses, I suppose I'd frequent the place at off hours (for better service) if I lived down the street. The beer selection is nice. But to drive 30 minutes or so there? Nah. Not even close to worth it. To date, we haven't been back. And we're not planning on it anytime soon.

Venture here with trepidation if you're on the lookout for an awesome beer experience. My advice? Skip it and head to Wayne/Paoli where you'll find TJ's and Teresa's along Lancaster Ave. They're hands down completely worth it every time.

I really dig this place, always have

a very demographically diverse crowd, young and old, working class and wealthy... its hard to fit out of place here

its a cool little bar that can get very crowded. Very strange ambiance, low ceilings and a giant comfy white leather couch that is a nice place to take a lady friend

It has some of the best food I have had for the money, the burgers have won local awards and the menu changes a bit. I think the last time I went I had a Shrimp club sandwich which I enjoyed and he had the crabcake sandwich which he also dug (and he is a crab cake snob)

the service can be hit or miss, sometimes nice... some cute waitresses, I have never fell in love with a bartender there. It also noisy in there and I have never really taked to any of the employees about beer, but most stuff I am pretty familar with

The tap last is wide and ecclectic, some belgians and some cool west coast and other domestic micros

the bottle list is big and really well organized , each beer has the name, brewery, bottle size, style and abv.... I mean just really layed out very well

just a great place to go with friends or bring a ladyfriend

the food and the beer are very cheap comparitivly

its in a very wealthy area and most sandwiches are under $6 ...

A very good corner bar that will be even better once the PA smoking ban takes effect. Few places in the area are smokier. Otherwise the Pig has a nice corner bar vibe.

Food has typically been very good for basic pub grub over the years. At times the food has slipped, but it's been better recently. The tap selection (15 or so) always has some good stuff, as does the bottle list. All drafts I have ever had there have been served in pint glasses, regardless of ABV so look out. Recently, they have started to post ABV on the chalkboard if it's over 8%.

My only complaint is that service can be hit or miss. They seem to understaff a bit to make sure the servers can make some money. I think that's fine, except when the server is too busy flirting with the guy at the next table to get you a beer for 20 minutes. Or unable to find a higher gear when she is weeded.

This is a great place to hang out in on an NFL Sunday as they have DirecTV and a dozen or so TVs. The owner is a nice guy too.

I frequent this place, so keep that in mind:

The beer:

21 drafts, 2 cask. The drafts rotate constantly, with the exception of a few basics (coors, guiness, smithwicks, chimay, etc.) Hop Devil is always on cask I believe, the other cask is a rotating. They have around 150 beers that are always on the menu, but some of these are seasonal and not always available. They have around generally 20-40 beers by bottle that they rotate as well. Selection is always good, and i can usually walk in and have a beer I've never had, sometimes never heard of. (And I walk in often). The rotating selection can be found on the numerous chalkboards lining the ceiling. Also, a small insert can be found with the cellar aged beers that the owner Steve keeps on hand (around 3 years max so far). The place is busy, and everything cycles through pretty quickly so everything is pretty fresh.

The food:

The available selection is mostly just bar food. Cheesesteaks, Burgers, sandwiches, etc, with the exception being their daily specials and a few specialty sandwiches. My girlfriend will drive 20 minutes out of her way for their soups, which are always good (Italian Wedding is my favorite). Everything I've ever eaten there has been excellent. I can't stress this enough. They make the best burgers and chicken cheesesteaks I've ever had out. Prices are a bit steep, but consistent with the area.

As for the bar itself:

Wooden everywhere (though mostly paneling), with wooden bar and a beat copper bartop and copper trim. All chairs and stools are wood with backing. A flying pig motif throughout, and a corner with a couch, loveseat, chair and a coffee table, w/ a lava lamp and childrens art hanging. All and all, a pretty comfy place to session drink.

Numerous flatscreens to watch the game, and a jukebox, touchscreen, and a golden tee machine. There's one row of taller chairs/tables with a smaller tabletop mainly for drinking, and then a small dining room further in. It's rather crowded in there if it's busy, and by the end of a night, it can get pretty smokey.

The staff:

The owners, Frank & Steve, are very nice, helpful guys, and love good beer. If you have any problems, let them know (there's a picture of them in a newsclipping on the wall to the right when you enter)

A lot of the regular waitress/bartenders are excellent, helpful, and prompt. While they don't always stay on top of every beer, they usually know what they're talking about. However, they tend to have a rotating door for a waitress position or two, and your service may suffer. Usually mine does only after I"ve told a friend how great they are. I'd say get a bar seat if you can.

The clientele:

During a weekday you'll find every stripe. Retired, corporate, construction workers, roofers, etc. In the evenings you tend to a get a bit younger crowd, but expect to see friendly locals surrounding the bar. Weekend days tend to be locals and beer nuts.

This is a great little bar in a small town in Chester County, PA. The beer selection is always expanding. They have several rotating taps as well as the beer-bar staples. If you are looking for food and beer pairings you may not want to put this place on the top of your list. However, if you have the munchies and are thirsty for a good beer, you may find this place to be your haven. They have several chalk boards posted around the place to let you know their current selection and list of bottles at your table. There is live local music on the weekends and the place does fill up.

Great beer bar in a very small town. Beer heaven.
They always have a belgium on tap from overseas I believe.
Their bottle selection is great and I believe they also fill growlers.
The place really can get packed when they have a nice full band playing some rock. This is the only bar in the middle of town next to the R5 train station and so things get magnified. It's a good time and the only thing holding it back is...
Watch out for the lurking cops especially late at night.
They are notorius.
Of course don't drink and drive.

This is a really neat place. Very dark wood interior with black ceilings and flying pigs (surprise!) all over the place. Cool wide plank unfinished wood floors. Sort of a mix between a dive bar and an upscale place trying to not look upscale. The tap list was impressive, about 8-10 regulars with a mix of macro and Hoegarden/Urquell type beers. 8 specialty tapspuring Heavywieht Saison, Magic Hat IPA, Hobgoblin Strong Ale on Cask, Hop Devil on cask, Penn Dark Lager, Grolsch, Dos Equis, Wyerbacher Merry Monks and Urthel's Quad. About 50-60 or so bottles, some pretty solid selections through and through.

Service was very friendly from a very busy bartneder during lunch. she brought me over a paper without even being asked...guess I looked like I needed to read. Had a burger, very solid. Pretty cheap considering I was in downtown Malvern.

Definitely a recommended stop.

I used to live and I work in the Paoli area. I had a co-worker who lived close to the Flying Pig Saloon. I stopped in a few times back then to get a Yuengling Lager (before Beer Advocate, before I knew any different). They gave me a hard time about my drivers license picture the first time I went in (not looking like me or some crap), so I didn't think much of the place; other than, it is a local bar on the corner. The parking seemed a bit limited but overall it is a decent bar.

Recently I stopped in again to check it out, after seeing it is listed here on BA. Unfortunately I was on business so I couldn't drink but I did check out there selection and I was impressed. For 'The Bar on the corner', they had a very nice selection. I remember Victory, Serria Nevada, Appalation, Magic Hat and Dog Fish Head were all available at what seems the least likely place. It was good food but I probably won't make a special trip from Lancaster, just to go drinking at the Flying Pig Saloon.

[EDIT My opinion has changed. The service is good and the selection is continually growing. Founders and Bell, and Belgians, well done]

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

My Mom has lived in the borough of Malvern for years, yet I'd never been to this place, until last Wednesday.

I was pleasantly surprised by what the Flying Pig had to offer. I had a Left Hand XXX-mas Ale that tasted great, extremely fresh. The micro beer selection here is top notch. Almost as good as Tenstone or Tria in the city.

As for the food, I tried the chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce and was relieved that it was quite tasty, satisfying even.

The barman was attentive, and even though he wasn't the most charming or friendliest-looking, he was efficient and attitude-free at least.

The only annoying thing was a forty-yr-old guy in a T-shirt performing typical, acoustic singer/songwriter-type songs. That kind of live music belongs in a coffee shop, not in a beer bar, at least to me.

The Flying Pig is a great little corner bar in Malvern, PA which is nice for me because it is literally 2 miles from my house. I found out about this place about 2 months after moving into the area and we have been going here about once a month since then.

The atmosphere here is really cool with all the wood and pigs hanging on the walls. The crowd is usually pleasant and the service is pretty good as well.

If they only served food they would get a good rating as they have a nice menu of sandwiches and appetizers for everyone but their beer selection is very nice as well. They usually have about 10 or so really good drafts that rotate regularly. These drafts usually include something Belgian or a few something Belgians as well as maybe a German beer and of course some great local beers from Heavyweight or Victory or Dogfish or many others. They also have a good standard bottle selection that includes some local favorites and some Belgian's like Chimay and Duvel.

The pig is a great local corner bar in the heart of Malvern. The atmosphere is a low lit with old wooden floors and a small, 3 sided square bar that sits about 15. There are also couches near the jukebox and several tables.
The quality of both the beer and food is excellent. I especially like the rotating selections of beer(mostly sixtalls). They've gone through Old Dominion, Heavyweight, Magic Hat, Wild Goose, Appalachian, McKenzie's, Anchor...the list goes on and on. Not to mention, they have a medium sized bottle selection if the great draft list doesn't tickle your fancy. I especially enjoy the pork sandwiches, hot wings, and open faced turkey sandwiches. The service is usually friendly and attentive and if they're unsure of what a beer is like, they will usually offer a sample. Another cool aspect is the growler to go from the pig. It's not a bad deal. You basically get a few bucks off for getting a growler full of beer.

Some of the locals I have seen available include Victory, Stoudts, and McKenzies and then they also have had Bell's and Stone too. On top of the great micros there is always some great imports. I usually hit up the draft selections, but the bottle list is very good. The place is clean and relatively small compared to some of the other more popular hangouts in the area. The service has varied, but is generally good, though the servers tend to not know much about the beer. This isn't something that bothers me because I usually know enough about them, but in the instance I want to know something about a specific brew, there may not be some one around to help. My aren't we lucky in this area with Victory, Drafting Room, Sly Fox, and "The Pig" all right around here! I am never moving! :) Anyway, The Pig is my favorite local bar, with a classic atmosphere, really good and cheap food (cheesesteaks with their special fries are awesome, and the Cheesy Pig is ier-delicious!). The service is usually really terrible, but you learn to deal with it. The two usual waitresses are nice enough, but they are never around. They are overworked though. Also, it's odd they still don't recognize me after my countless visits. Anyway, the beer selection is more than impressive. You could go 3 nights a week for hours and never get the same beer. The are starting to carry more local and tri-state beers now, which is nice, but they still have plenty of crazy imported selections too. It makes me sick to see people ordering Bud and Miller there! Sometimes it is overly smokey, and tough to get a table if you want to eat. Also, and I will say this was a major exception, but once there was a pretty big rumble that broke out and they were incompetant to control it with the one small "bouncer" that they have and their barbacks. It got out of hand until the police came. Oddly enough, I see the guy who caused the fight in the bar all the time still. Anyway, 99.9% of the time it is a friendly local crowd, which is fairly diverse...from college kids, to after work people coming from the office, to local mechanics. I can not say enough about their music either. Of the good number of bands I have seen there, they have ranged from "good" to "someone get these guys a record deal". It's easy to hang out and jam along until after 1 am.

-

Edit: Since the no-smoking ban in PA has gone into effect, this place is even higher on the awesomeness chart. Woot for the pig. Long live the Cheesy Pig sammich, too!

This place was quite a find. Just before moving into the area (again) I stumbled onto this place. In an old building right in the center of Malvern is the Flying Pig. This place has the old rough pub feel to it, which personally I love. Dark wood, not overlit, the kind of place I want to drink beer at. And what beer! This is the first place I had Old Dominion Spring Brew, and for that alone I would hold this place in high regard. There were, however, a great number of other excellent beers available, and judging by the number of kegs that kicked in the short time I was there, the beers have a fairly high turnover. The service was good, but the fact that I cant make any specific remarks on it warrents a 3.5. The reuben I had was good, but nothing truly spectacular. Overall, this place definitely warrents a visit, and I plan on making many more visits. If The Drafting Room and Victory werent closer than the Flying Pig, this would be my the place you could find me on a good night for beer. Added note: late at night it can get loud, smokey, and crowded with drunk people, especially when there are bands playing.

A cozy corner pup in the heart of Malvern. Think of an old style American corner bar. Nice place, lots of wood. Average sized bar. The rest of the place is filled with tables, juke box in the corner etc. Low light, cool. Service is good, beer selection is really nice. Good selection of draft beers. Bottle list was rather good as well. I tried a Smithwicks and Tuppers Hop rocket. Premium brews will run you about $4, average for this area. Food is pretty standard pub grub and hits the spot.

2 engines last time I was there - 3/26/2006. Hopdevil and Hobgoblin, I think Hopdevil is pretty much always on, the other I believe rotates.

Highly recommended beer bar.

I hung out at the infamous Flying Pig after the 6th annual Main Line, PA beerfest for the first time. The fest emptied out like an underage party that kicked the keg at the same time a cop-car showed up out front.

Pretty much concur with other BA reviews here, which have graced this site before me. The old exposed stressed wood motif was warm and welcoming; a dim ambience that was dimly lit with candles as the sun went down. Oh, how I wish I lived closer to this place. I can't rave about the service, but in their defense, the place was packed for 4pm on a Sat. Even though the FP did not have a million beers on tap, I can say that the selection is a generous 4.5 because they had great quality brews for the balance of their taps, after the typical prerequisite macros that I'm sure you can well imagine. I read that they have something like 20 taps. I had a phenomenal Old Dominion Whiskey Keg Stoudt, a big ole Three Philosophers bottle and a Victory Old Ho' that was shelved in a full pint! Woo-hoo! By that time I forget the price, but I do remember it was reasonable.

Here is a plus about this place: Their beer menu is a prominent feature with big chalkboards up on the back wall that clearly let ya know this is a serious beer-bar. How cool! Could ya bring your Mom here? Yes, you could. Invite her soon, too. It's worth it.

Last swigs: A dimly lit, welcoming, rustic wood ambiance with great beer selection. A+ in my BA book.

*** second visit last week *** Staff was confused over basic beer items. Overly Octoberfest selection. Sam Adams O'Fest was the best one? Hmmm! Worth a drive if you are in the area of say a 15 minute drive. Don't speed on Rte 30 late at night.

The Flying Pig is a cute little bar tucked away just across the bridge atop the big hill in Malvern. There's a tiny parking lot in back but it's full even at the slowest times. Still, you should be able to find a spot somewhere on the street. Once inside you'll notice that it's covered in unfinished wood. Floors and walls. It's almost like a hunting shack in Maine! There's somewhat of a dining room to the left with some nice tables and chairs; and the square, peninsula bar is straight ahead but slightly to the right. Some cocktail tables separate the bar from the "dining room" and there are a couple of sofas and a coffee table just as you walk in on your right. Very cozy! Step up to the copper top bar and order yourself a pint from one of their 19 taps! They're always rotating with the exception of their Bud, Coor's Light, Bass, Guinness, Harp, Yuengling and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Local beers from Heavyweight, Lancaster, and Victory get a pretty heavy rotation and there are always a few 'far off' micros available such as Weeping Radish, De Groen's and Brewer's Art. The bottle selection also roatates with a heavy emphasis on seaasonals, and surpasses their draft selection by quite a bit. Some memorable selections include Coniston Old Man Ale, Avery Czar Russian Imperial Stout, Ommegang Three Philosophers, and rotating beers from Anderson Valley, Hitachino Nest, De Dolle and Bell's. It's not an overly large selection, but it is impressive. The food is also quite good, although it's just bar food. There's a wide range of appetizers that include pepperoni bread ($5.25), onion rings ($4.50), and homemade shrimp jammers (shrimp wrapped in jalapeno cheese and deep fried). A simple garden salad is $2.50 and soup or chili is $1.95 cup/ 3.25 bowl. Sandwiches are popular and they offer hoagies at $5.75, burgers at $5.50 (6.25 (for the bacon cheeseburger), meatball sandwiches at $5.50, and a tuna melt at $5.50. Some more engaging food includes ribs ($8.50 half/13.95 full), crabcakes for $8.50 (!!!), Chicken & Dumplings ($10.95) and a NY Strip at $12.50. It's some of the best bar food I've ever had, and at some of the best prices I've ever had! If I lived near here, I might actually go there to eat for dinner some nights. They offer live music on Wednesdaay, Friday, and Saturday; and the regular crowd is very welcoming. This is really a great place that's worth a visit!

Nice corner "neighborhood" bar type feel. Sofas and over stuffed chairs in one corner, bar tables and stools everywhere else. This place is located at the northwest corner of Bridge Street and King Street in Malvern, PA. What I like best is the CONSTANT turnover of good draft ber. This week for example, Sierra Nevad Celebration, Avery Jubilation, Ottter Creek Alpine Ale and a host of others were available. Several weeks ago La Chouffe L'Nice barley wine was on and the place also keeps about 40 to 50 bottled varities going and right now, has Double Arrogant Bastard available.

The place I guessing can hold about 60 patrons over all, about 20 at the bar and 40 or so at the tables. The ceilings are lo, walss are wood paneled, and there is a hardwood floor that really lend to the atmosohere. They usually have some pretty good local music too in the evenings. The beer alone is worth the trip

A relatively small neighborhood tavern located in the "heart" of Malvern (at the corner of King and Bridge Street). Parking can be a real challenge, but you need to look for the small (but abundant) municipal lots that in walking distance. The interior has a somewhat dark and subdued appearance, but it's truly a friendly local beer bar that has truly expanded the quantity and quality of beer selections available on draft, cask and bottled beer. There are 21 beers on tap and usually two cask-conditioned brews of which 13 are the "normal suspects" (half macros, but the other some interesting imports), but the other 8 taps are constantly represent rotating seasonal or special micro and import brews. Recently, most of the taps were dominated by domestic and German-made Oktoberfest brews. There is a diverse menue of normal pub grub, including some delicious home-made soups. Service was always very attentive and friendly when I have been there for lunch. Very nice place.

Located in the quiet town of Malvern is the Flying Pig Saloon. Don't be fooled by the "local" apperance of this establishment---they serve great beer.
As you walk in, you'll see two couches, a table and lava lamps on the right. Straight ahead is a square bar with 24 stools. To the left are 2-seat bar tables and dinner tables. Rough hewn wood adds a rustic apperance.
The Pig offers 21 beers on tap (3 on the handpump) and 70+ bottles. Some notable draft beers were Victory Hop Devil, Heavyweight Perkuno's Hammer and Maredsous 8. The menu is a causual, slightly ecclectic pub style. Live music is presented every Friday and Saturday night.
I'm amazed this pub has been off the beer geek radar scope! It offers too much quality for that type of neglect. It needs our support.
