A: Pours black, nearly opaque, with a big bubbly tan head. A lot of the head dissipates, but patches of it stick around, enough to leave pretty good lacing.

S: Light and kind of woody, primarily malty sweetness.

T: Also fairly light, but nicely balanced. Some roasted malt flavor, but not too sweet. Dry to finish.

M: Light to medium carbonation, medium body, a little chewy.

D: Quite nice to drink - reasonable ABV, tasty enough with no overbearing flavors.

a lighter body schwarzbier with a nice bitterness. pours is like a nice german lager with a off chocolate head. nose of mild straw and apple and maltose. very lightly roasted. palate is bright. crisp on the tongue with a carbonation that constricts a bit and a bitterness of hop that sits nicely with the hops. good but i expected bit more chocolate and 'dark qualities'.

Pours black into a dimpled mug. Small, one finger beige head that reduced to a thin film on the beer. Not much lacing.

Aroma is quite malty more than anything else. Hints of coffee and bitter chocolate come through.

Similar to the aroma the taste is driven by the malt profile. Some sweet chocolate and coffee are there with hops in the background. The finish is slightly bitter. Good balance to this brew.

Medium bodied and a pretty soft carbonaton.

Quite drinkable, great for the cold wintertime

Pours cola brown, light tan head. Nose has light smoke, which is ideal for swarzbiers for me. No need for smoke bombs to appeal to the new generation of beer enthusiasts. Nice balance on the palate with some light roast, malt, light hops, and very drinkable. Incredibly refreshing. Can't wait to experiment with food pairings.

Pours almost black with a fluffy tan head the dies quickly. The aroma is sweet malts, light coffee, and a touch of spice. Flavor is malty and semi-sweet, the middle has an almost sweet dark bread quality and licorice flavor, but finishes crisp and hoppy. Medium body, not a lot of meat or carbonation.

I really liked the flavor was complex but not over done. Good balance, easy going down, would make a good session beer.

This is the first schwarzbier I have ever reviewed so bear with me. Pours a dark cola brown with a soft tan head. Smells of sweet plum wine over hearty, buttered, tobacco bread. Taste is mellow, lightly roasty, with buttered toast malt, a little cardboard, and some faint sweetness. Finish is roasty and slightly bitter. I think I like this style (so far).

12 oz. with no freshness date - served slightly chilled in a flute. Pours a black that is deep red through the light and it's topped with a 1 inch tan head that leaves nice lacing. Smells earthy with some spicy hops and traces of chocolate, coffee, and soap. Lots of earthy malts with a noticeable hop bitterness and hints of dark fruits, coffee, and smoke. It's kinda tingly with a medium to light body. Not too complicated and easy to drink. The glass held less that 12 ounces and I noticed the second pour was much more flavorful and left sediment at the bottom of the glass - didn't know it was unfiltered, not that I'm complaining.
