Dark cola huge light brown head. Clear fluid. Very good lacing.

Nose is sweet and lightly bready. Hops are tight and cutting.

Taste is like a Belgian black IPA. Lots of roasted grains and char. Honey leaves a sweetness after the finish. Hops are plentiful leaving a leafiness in the back of my throat and a sandpaper dryness on my tongue. A bit of heat in the finish.

Feel is full and creamy with a crisp dryness in the swallow.

A nice brew.

Excellent Belgian style made in America. Ale pours a deep DARK brown with tight beaded tan head and light lacing. Lots of character in the nose....dark plum, Belgian candy, strong esters and clove, fresh bread, and brown sugar. Taste has a lot going on as well. Belgian candy and honey up front and on the sides, plums, raisins, and hint of herbal spiciness from coriander comes thorough in a wave of excellent melodies on the back. Dry mouthfeel; highly carbonated, with an alcoholic warmth on the finish. A most excellent ale. Cheers.

A-Black in the glass, clear amber when pouring. Three finger tan head that leaves nice lacing.

S-Plums and other dark fruits, bananas, clove and then some honey.

T-Starts with belgian notes: dark fruits and clove. The honey is there but not as much as I was expecting. Semi well balanced.

M-Medium bodied, nice carbonation.

O-Better than I was expecting. The honey isn't very present though which I enjoyed.

Fantastic beer!

Complex beer with lots of flavor and a candy like aroma. Purply/black color with light carbonation. You can definitely taste the honey in this beer. Mildly bitter, with notes of maple syrup, brown sugar, and a hint of orange rind. A tasty winter warmer on a 0 degree night.

Hope to repeat soon!

750mL bottle served in a tulip.

A- Black body and a huggggeee light tan head that hangs around for a few minutes. Spotty lacing all the way down the glass.

S- Wow, this is a remarkable delightful nose. Equal parts Belgian yeast, citrus, and honey. A well-balanced aroma I suppose. It's actually a bit like smelling hot cocoa mix, oddly enough.

T- Creamy and citrusy at the same time right up front. Dry towards the end and the honey appears in the middle.

M- Mouthfeel is right where it should be. Tingly carbonation but not so much that its champagne-like. Medium creamy feel. Where is the alcohol in this one? I don't get it at all.

O- Just a great beer by Ithaca. Don't even hesitate if you see it.

When poured in a Duvel tulip it was very dark brown and allowed no light to pass through. There was a decent light brown head that covered the entire surface while the beer was consumed and it left heavy lacing. It smelled Belgian with that yeasty, bready smell with some clove and honey peeking in every once in a while. The taste was similar with the malty sweetness showing more as it warmed. Also tasted the honey, clove and a bit of pepper. The ending had a nice surprising hop bitterness that wrapped up the experience. It was a nice chewy beer with a decent amount of carbonation that tickled the tongue and helped release all of the flavors. Really a tasty beer. I didn't have it fresh but I have no complaints.

On-tap 8/17/2014 at Pour Farm in New Bedford, MA, served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a large foamy off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains funky Belgian yeast, roasted malts, some chocolate, spices and dark fruit.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and roasted malts. Then some sweet flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, honey, licorice and spices come in. The hops presence is mild and brings a little bit of balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: A little crisp and little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, slightly filling, good kick, decent representation of style, it’s a decent beer but there are better dark Belgian-style beers that I would choose before this one.
