12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 02/03/14.

A: Pours a slightly hazy light golden yellow with a dense white head on top. A bit of haziness from suspended sediment visible in the body. Leaves some nice lacing on the sides of the glass.

S: Nice citrus hop aroma right off the bat that remind you this is the brewery that brings you Flower Power. Belgian yeast is light but gives it another layer of fruitiness.

T: Plenty of hops in this one rounded out by a solid fruity yeastiness. Belgian qualities certainly come through making it stand out from your typical IPA.

M: Medium body with a nice touch of creaminess. Between the hops and belgian yeast this one comes across pretty dry.

Overall I'm really diggin this beer. Great hop profile with an interesting mix of belgian yeast. May be a bit dry but thats not an issue for me.

Pours golden yellow. 3 inch fluffy white head providing substantial lacing. Very piny aroma. Medium body slightly oily in texture. Hop forward flavor profile that settles nicely. Mild Belgian presence presides with very a sneaky hint of alcohol present. Overall a very good Representation of the style and definitely an offering I will revisit.

12 ounce bottle purchased as a single at Cable beverage in Bardonia, NY

Best Before dating area on the side of the label but nothing is notched/marked....oh well they tried..

Pours heavily hazed medium tangerine, moderate lite khaki head, leaves some spots and blobs of lace.

I get lime on the nose.

Tasty and zesty BIPA, more lime, some lite gin as well as ginger, Belgian yeastyness. Crisp and flavorful. Nice hoppy snap mid way and then again lime, ginger and gin in the finish. Most enjoyable...go get some

Bright honey golden hue with a big white head at least three finger width, fine Belgian style lacing. Aromatics spicy yeast, earthy citric hops, a bit of pepper, and a touch of vegetal/garlic notes from the hops. The American hops and the Belgian yeast are competing with each other. Reminds me of other versions especially the Stone's Belgian IPA...harsh on the palate citrus peel, Belgian spice bitterness comes off like perfume accidentally swallowed super bitter and not so cohesive with the light golden base malt here. Mouthfeel, a bit aggressive with the carbonation medium bodied some cloying aspects on the palate. Overall I'm happy I got to try this new Ithaca release, thanks to wvsabbath for the sample.

Pours a hazy golden hay color with orange highlights. The tight white head is small and settles into a creamy ring.

The aroma is of hay and grass. Nice clove scent from the yeast. Some tropical fruit notes such as pineapple and mango. Some pear as well.

The taste is quite grassy and peppery at the start. Some leafy hop flavor as well. The malt is fairly light, slightly bready. Quite fruity; orange, grapefruit, pineapple and apple. Slight honey sweetness. The clove is not as strong in the taste but is there. Subtle farmhouse notes.

The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Good balance between sweet and hoppy bitterness. Definitely finishes with a biting grassy bitterness. Perhaps a touch sticky.

A nice Belgian IPA. Good hop choices for the Belgian style.

A: Dense tangerine orange has a strong factor of visible carbonation and floaties within. Sturdy, frothy, whipped topping has a long lasting retention with a buff tone and pale yellowish undertones.

S: Aroma was soft, semi-dry lemon flower hops, flashes of sweet pale grains, soft fresh wet grapefruit with a light hint of hay and saw dust.

T: The flavor had floral orange, citrusy grapefruit hops, with some sweet speciality grains. Light, dry yeasty touch, dry fruitiness, bready with some citronella. Warm cooked pineapple fruitiness, spicy hop bite finish.

M: Creamy malt, mouthful, good carbonation level with a dry bittering citrus finish off the tongue.

O: Overall a good level of hops, bittering some belgian yeastiness, pretty good.

Got this one from the Box of Belgians today (02/27/14). The bottle has code: 140203, probably meaning bottled on 02/03/14. Poured into one of the Dogfish Head/Sierra Nevada IPA glasses alongside the Fleuf de Belgique to compare.

Golden and hazy with a thin white head and a thin stream of bubbles. Aroma is strongly fruity--peaches, pears, apple. Not much in the way of malt character or typical IPA citrus notes. Tastes pretty much like it smells: stone fruits dominate, probably from the hops, backed up by pear notes. An earthiness that I attribute to the Belgian yeast as well. Hop bitterness doesn't kick in until the end and a nice soft maltiness that carries it throughout without getting in the way.

Overall one of my top belgian IPAs. I used to hate this style, but the use of fruity hops with Belgian yeast really works in this one.

A: The beer is hazy light golden yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that gradually died down but consistently left a thin head covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides.
S: Moderate aromas of tropical fruit and citrusy hops—grapefruit, orange and pineapple seem to stand out in particular—are present in the nose along with hints of Belgian yeast.
T: Like the smell, the taste starts off with lots of flavors of citrus and tropical fruits but then notes of Belgian yeast begin to appear during the middle of the taste and diminishing some of the hoppiness. A light to moderate amount of bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this to be a really interesting hybrid beer as it seemed to taste more like an American IPA compared to a Belgian IPA with all of the hop aromas and flavors. It's almost a shame that this wasn't just an American IPA as the Belgian yeast seemed to somewhat mute the interesting aromas and flavors from the hops.

Advertised as a BIPA, this struck me as halfway between an IPA and a Belgian IPA. The Belgian yeasts are there, but they lay in ambush behind a surprisingly aggressive hop profile. Drinks surprisingly easily despite the notable hop bite. I enjoyed this one. Right on the cusp between pretty good and very good.
