2nd beer of the day visiting Ithaca. Only slightly better than the first, which was the worst.
The questionable appearance, after a questionable tap line on the prior pour came up. Super light yellow, very small head, not the big virgin white one ideally, slight cloudiness as well. The aroma had a mild lemon undercurrent to it, the wheat didn't stand out here or produce even an average tartness.
Yeah really lacking the wheat snap and sour mash feel. Just some residual lemon notes. Carbonation too low. While the taste here wasn't as bad as the prior beer, the overall experience did make me wonder if they were losing some carbonation from the condition of the lines. Kind of torn on the rating here, this is a below average berliner, but it happens to be a style I like, so it gets a little notch upward. Definitely not what I would recommend to a berliner fan, but it still might be in some people's wheelhouse who don't want too much going on in their beer.

L: Slightly hazy straw with a big foamy white head. Poor retention, but a thin white ring remains. A bit of spotty lacing.
S: Lemon peel, green apple skin, unripe pineapple and white peach, musty hay, cracker, grainy wheat, and subtle salinity.
T: Gentle pop of clean lemon tartness upfront, along with some unripe white peach and pineapple. Lightly grainy, crackery, wheat backbone. Wafting green apple skin throughout. Ends slightly grassy with a touch of saltiness. Finishes crisp and clean.
F: Light-bodied, but not watery. Well-carbonated. Crisp and well-balanced.
O: A solid Berliner Weisse. Very refreshing!

Pint on draft at Arcadia National Bar in Portland, Maine.
Appearance: Hazy gold with minimal head. Seems to get oddly clearer at is warms, or maybe I just moved to part of the bar with better lighting.
Aroma: Funky and tart. Faint lemon.
Taste: Very tart lemony flavor. Really tasty. Funky, grassy. Good stuff.
Mouthfeel: Super easy despite the slightly harsh lemon. Alcohol barely there. Could drink this all day.
Overall: One of the better domestic weissbiers I've had. Very refreshing and flavorful. Nice work. I may need to start buying Ithaca stuff again; it's been a while.

Poured into a narrow glass: color is bright, straw color, not too hazy, effervescent, brighter off white head with fine bubbles, no lacing.
Smell is light tart, sweet, lemony, not much wheat or funkiness.
Taste is similar with a tart presence, lactic acid and citrus with lemon flavor, wheat is not noticeable, not much funkiness, but simple and good tasting
Mouthfeel is crisp, lightly tart, some lingering sourness on the tongue.
Overall a good tasting beer, not quite the depth of flavor of a traditional berliner weisse.

This was poured into a flute. The appearance was a semi-hazy yet slightly transparent yellow color. A lot of streams of carbonation are seen rising to fill a rapidly dissipating foamy to bubbly white head. No lacing is there. The smell starts off with a sharp citrus quality, slightly sour or tart, and opening up to more oranges and starfruit to bring about a slight refreshing grassy quality as well. The taste has a dry sweet citrus and a slight bitter yet acceptable graininess (from the wheat). There’s no aftertaste nor finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed good for a Berliner, a moderate amount of bitterness hits my tongue appropriately. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Berliner Weisse, fans of "sour" styles should like this.

From the start didn't think I was going to enjoy this beer. It grew on me a bit as I kept sipping but still left something to be desired. The tartness is interesting to say the least. More of a summer type beer that I bought at the wrong time of year.
