look: 4.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 1.5 | overall: 1.5

Pours copper-orange with a slightly hazed clarity. Off-white two-finger head with tremendous staying power and leaves sticky lacing. Floral and grassy american hop nose with toasty crystal malt scent, a faint rose-alcohol in the background; and a whiff of acetone as it warms. Mild sweetness upfront, mostly toasted pale malt and a nice husky flavor that's not too astringent. Drying aftertaste, mild bitterness but manages to balance against the light malt sweetness. Light in body with medium-fine carbonation. Mouthfeel becomes overly grainy and the boozey/oxydized character begins to dominate. Finishes tannic with too much off-flavor showing, but some residual caramel and resinous hop flavor emerges. Beneath the flaws, lies a decent beer.

Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?

App: Standard hazy orange. standard. standard

Smell: Rotten fruit sweetness. Banana/peach. No hops in scent.

Taste: Very full flavored. Lots of rotten peach. Very thick. Hop presence is limited.

MF: Very thick and full. Feels like the sugar that coats the mouth after drinking a Pepsi.

Drinkability: Too thick and sugary for my taste.

copper/amber color with an off white head ,medium and small bubbles- not too tight- average head and minimal lacing. Smell was lightly hopped and sweet malt maybe some light citrus. mouthfeel was medium bodied and peppery on the front with slight bitterness on the end . Taste overall was pretty middle of the road for this style, nothing great but nothing i'd turn down ,I did like this. Bought a 12 pack sampler and am looking forward to tasting the rest, don't think this will disappoint. Back to the pale ale , not impressive but solid.

Poured from bottle into pint glass.

A- Almost no head, light carbonation with a clear copper color.

S- Very light, but fresh hops smell that was nice after a long day.

T- This beer had a little metallic taste that I do not remember from prior tastings. The hops notes are there, but I was unable to get past the metal taste.

M- Very light mouthfeel with some bitter aftertaste.

D- Other than the off taste, this is abeer that I would try again. It has been a session type beer for my friend and heres hoping that this was a one time issue (or maybe it was me...).

Finger Likes Pale Ale....

Appearance-pale gold with some darker streaks, medium sized head, fizzes and comes down.

Smell-dry hop aroma, more reminiscent of an IPA than an APA. Alcohol appears as well, very aromatic.

Taste/Mouthfeel-hops appear quickly, heavy body and alcohol, there is a lot going on here but it isn't all put together.

Drinkability-interesting cross between an APA and and IPA but it doesn't really work all that much.

Overall-doesn't know whether it's an APA or an IPA, kind of mashed together, didn't impress me. Try your luck elsewhere.

A-Almost clear with an amber color. Off-white head of 3/4 inches in height on agtgressive pour. Okay retention and a nice lace.

S-not much here, a little floral hop and a touch of biscuit.

T-Caramal and biscuit, faint floral hop in the background. Herbal hops in the middle. Litlle bitterness at this party

D-not too much

A: Pours dark golden in color with a quickly dissipating head and no lacing. Moderate carbonation.

S: Scents of coffee malt, bready yeast and wafts of citrus. Pretty bland and closed.

T: Decent, but one note. Subdued, tangy earthy hops up front with a sweeter maltier midpalate and a bitter finish. Bland.

M: Mouthfeel isn't bad. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

D: Decently drinkable but nothing about it makes me want to go back for more.

Nice clear deep amber color brew with a modest but healthy looking head and decent lace. The aroma is an acidic wheat/citrus deal with some floral highlights but I also pick up some lake water foulness. It tastes pretty tangy, peppery, kind of dry biscuit on the tongue. On the grassy side, very tart and pretty lively in carbonation. OK summer faire, but not in my wheelhouse.

Sampled 06/30/06. Review from notes.

A: Perfect copper color with an initial two finger frothy white head. Quick to dissipate with lots of bubbles coming from the bottom. Slight lace.
S: Floral hop notes with a grassyness to it. Grapefruit in there also. Caramel earthy malt background.
T/M: Grassy earthy hop flavor mixed with floral notes. Biscuity malt and slight caramel malt background combines well with the hops. Smooth, coating, and refreshing in the mouth. Slight bitterness with a semi dryness that hits at the finish. Light body. More malty than hoppy.
D: Drinkable but there are better pale ales out there. Good carbonation with an average overall taste. Worth a try.

This beer is a rich gold color with a barely existent white head. It's a bit sparkling and the clarity is excellent. Pretty. The aroma of clean pine is backed up with a delicate floral quality and a slight hint of grain. The body is medium light on the tongue with bright carbonation. It's a bit sudsy; maybe oily. It has an astringent finish that I've come to recognize in Ithaca beers. The flavor is of clean, bright, piny hops. It turns a bit skunky towards the end of the taste. The flavor is quick to fade but the astringent finish remains. Not complex at all.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a wispy white head. Spotty lacing down the glass.

A little floral and citrus aroma. Not much here.

I'd like to point out multiple flavors. This one is kind of lacking though. Starts out with a bit of a spicy hop presence. Very little malt. Finishes with a good piney resin that lingers a bit, but until the aftertaste there's not much here.

Mouthfeel and carb are good for style.

Nothing terribly wrong here, but could use a bit more. The biggest thing it accomplished was making me wish I had more Flower Power.

Pours a slightly hazy pale copper. Nice frothy white head with a little lacing.

Aroma is a little sour- a jumbled tradeoff between amber crystal malt and moderately aggressive hopes. Weird hop aroma that I don't fully recognize too.. one of those varieties that I don't pay much attention to like Simcoe or just cascade that got manipulated by the malt aroma.

Taste follows on the aroma. The hop character is a bit muted by the overwhelming amber malt. I'd like to see this a little a little crisper. Very dextrinous mouthfeel.

Poured into my american pint with a small white head that dissapeared wuickly. Lots of carbonation left over, but not alot of head. Good amber color. Not alot of aroma, what I do detect is hops. Good hop flavor, but I'm not good enough to pick out which one's are in it. Light bodied and clean in mouth. Seems to be a very average pale ale. Thsi would be a good beer to give someone to show them what a pale ale is. Nothing wrog with average, but it's nothing special. I would say if you're in the mood for a PA and this is around, try it. Nothing to go searching for, but definitely enjoyable.

Start out with this one with a clean palette for best results. An average pale. Good session starter brew...start with it, then move on to something else.

Ithaca- Pale Ale

Appearance- Light reddish orange with a frothy head.
Smell- Light caramel malt with a touch of floral green hops.
Taste- Green oily hops with a sweet malt base.
Mouthfeel- Light and watery up front with a small metallic bitterness in the end.

Overall- Very humdrum. Probably, and hopefully, not 1 of Ithaca Beer Co.'s best.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams Pint Glass.

Apperance- Poured a clear, golden orange color, with a tad agressive pour a huge frothy white head popped up and stuck around for a while and left behind some decent lacing.

Smell- Aroma of piney hops.

Taste,Mouthfeel- Piney Hops and subdued malts, with a watery mouthfeel and clean crisp finish.

Drinkability- A good beer, quite sessionable.

A - Pours a color that leans toward a darker shade of gold. Some orange highlights are apparent in the right light. Head and lacing were both just above average.

S - Light in the smell department. Sweet malty aromas are equally mixed with hops in this one. On the sweeter side are caramel and honey. Hops have a citrus notes first, then some earthy aromas some in to play.

T - Seems like the hops and malt are really fighting for control of this beer. First flavors are caramel and grain followed by a smooth fruity hop flavor. The very next sip has the hops just a little more out in the forefront.

M - Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finish has some remaining bitterness and does not linger.

D - Drinkability is average. Not much in this beer makes me crave another. Somewhat bland overall. Given all the other choices, I'd go for something else before getting this agian.

I was a bit curious about these folks from upstate NY.

This pale ale is decent. The pour has a bit more foam than what I'd normally see from a pale ale. Smell is very hoppy. Taste is a strong bit of hops as well. I tend to like that, this was a bit unexpected.

It is a very drinkable brew. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't recommend it as a pale ale of choice.

Pours a slightly cloudy, brown-ish copper with an average tan head. Good head retention.

The nose is a wave of pale malts and light citrus hops.

Much like the nose... Pale malts, light citrus with mild bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Slightly grainy.

Nice and average pale ale.

Appearance is awesome light pale apricot copper tone with a large bubbly thick rocky off white head great retention equals adequate protein content here, lacing of course with some chunky uneven patterns still looks damn good.

Aroma nice malty sweetness with biscuit and apricot qualities that's weird but accurate of what I'm smelling hops that come off real grassy, floral, and with a touch of grapefruit peel also some yeast notes of fruitiness can also be detected very reserved English style pale not a slap you around APA.

Flavor feels proper in the most English sense of the word, with a delicate yet assertive hop profile moderately strong even bitterness with a touch of perfume, grapefruit and grassy earthiness must I say dirt there you go. Malts express themselves minimally here with biscuit pale malt flavors flowing among the hop bitterness still I come back to the perfume comparison even in flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied a trace of hop oil flowing carbonation sturdy maybe even a bit much for this beer oily feel really sticks around on the palate leaving bitter dryness that could feel unpleasant.

Drinkability a decent American brewed English style pale that I'm not crazy about it's not something I would revisit right away but not a beer I found to be bad it's just okay.

A: A rustic color a slight bit of transparency, this left a nice off white head at the top with some slight lacing around the glass that did not stay for long.

S: Hints of caramel and vanilla up front with the hops very present and slight hints of malt as it warms.

T: This was very well balanced, the nose is almost right there with the taste besides the fact the bitterness takes over, nice warmth from the malts, a slight sweetness on the tail end from what seems to be caramel.

M: Light bodied brew with a good amount of carbonation.

D: This was a very subtle beer, nothing crazy just very simple and to the point with this one, well balanced on the hops and malts.

This one is a dark copper color with a small off white head.

Aroma is almost non existent. Hints of hops exist though.

The flavor is dominated by mild hops but has a bit of malt presence in there as well.

Mouth feel is light bodied and a bit over carbonated.

Other than the carbonation factor, this one is easy going.
It’s alright, but not worth going out of the way to get one.

This poured a clear gold with white head. It smelled like fresh barley malt with some honey sweetness, and had some light copper hops. It tasted like orange and copper hops with some very basic and bland barley malt. It was slightly thick with a bit of carbonation, and had a mildly bitter aftertaste. Overall this was a very basic pale ale that didn't have the cleanest flavor. But it didn't taste bad, and it had good body, so I could drink it. However, this is not a beer I'd try again.

Pours a deep copper hue with a one finger head. Decent retention and good lacing.

There was a sweet malty aroma cut with nice pine and citrus notes.

The flavor was a bit on the malty side for me. However, a nice sharp grapefruit bitterness. Decent hop presence throughout.

The mouthfeel was full. It could have been a bit drier if not for the extra sweetness.

A good drinkable APA. Average for the style.

A. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Clear orange with a huge pillowy head. A nice smattering of lace.

S. Bready toffee malt and some pine and citrus.

T. Quite hoppy with some earth and pine, mineral twang. The malt body is thin, just some light caramel/toffee balance, english style pale ale with a heap of cascades. As it warms, a roasted note emerges from the malt provides some more balance.

M. Viscious mouthfeel, stings palate with hop. Spritzy carbonation and a medium body.

D. Not a bad pale ale here from Ithaca. If you really like your cascade hops (and I do) this is a Pale Ale you will enjoy.
