Blind Beer #7 - http://flic.kr/p/9rCEJF
Thanks to Kevin (shrek806) for sending me this in Round #4 of the Blind Beer BIF.
A bit out of order at this point, but I don't think it matters. On the tail end of a cold so my smell may be a bit tainted but food is tasting right so time to get back on the blind horse.
12oz bottle poured into my Unibroue tulip. Color is murky copper red with a solid creamy thick head. Aroma is simco pineyness and citrus hops. Flavor is a mix of medium fruity bitterness and rye bread. This beer is pretty quaffable with a nice clean wet residual mouth feel.
Going to go with a hoppy red ale on this one.
Answer is Ithaca Cascazilla. Another tasty treat from Ithaca, not quite as spectacular as Flower Power but still a solid brew. I wouldn't complain one bit if this was on tap at a local watering hole.

BB April. Poured into a tulip glass, big thunderous head on this, tan and lightly copper. Beer itself is a dark rudy brown, very hazy, with some visible carbonation. Good head retention and lacing.
S - strong citrus aromas, ruby grapefruit, caramel syrup, rose florals, oranges, lots of lovely hoppy aromas, with some mouthwatering malty notes as well. Florals play a nice part and elevate the caramel malts, very inviting with a lot of aspects going on.
T - grapefruit juice, orange, cherries, toasted caramel, raisin bread, starts mild and unassuming before the plethora of hoppy citrus and caramel malts wash over the palate. Biscuit malts, and a decent rolling bitterness with citrus rind, and smooth carbonation (a bit astringent). Does a great job of melding the caramel sweetness and complexity with a solid hoppy profile, exactly what I would expect for this style and this one near hits it out of the park. I think with some different hops included this could be even better.
M - balanced, with a moderate full body, lots of caramel and bready malt with a moderate carbonation to carry through, finish is dry with a solid hop bitterness. Sessionable with a solid punch to it. No hint of alcohol astringency.
Well worth trying, really nice mix of flavours, all balanced really well, complexity opens up really well. Just a well put together beer that offers a very good example of what a Red IPA can be all about. Very nice, would have again. Cascade hops work really well here, citrus and florals come through strongly.

The beer comes in a dark murky copper color.
The beer has a good bready malt and caramel sweetness. The hops are of red grapefruit, some piney hops, herbal qualities.
Well balanced, but slightly pushed back on the hops as in not being extremely hoppy. However, still a good beer with hoppy flavors and a nice malty body.
