Pours a bright golden color with 2 1/2 fingers of fluffy white head.

The scent is of citrus and wheat.

The taste is of citrus and wheat, a little watery.

Light bodied, smooth and refreshing. low carbonation.

Very easy to drink, it was a little too watery for me and could have a bit more flavor.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a somewhat foggy straw yellow with a one finger fluffy white head that quickly fades to a thin layer. No stickiness at all with this one. Smell is strong pale wheat with a lemon zest scent. Honey and coriander are noticable in the nose as well. Taste is a bit too zesty up front but dies down to a pleasant wheat flavor. Aftertaste is an enjoyable yeast flavor with a nice citrus splash. Average taste overall. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a whole lotta carbonation, too much IMO. Not a bad beer to put down on a hot summer day.

Picked up a growler of Ithaca's new seasonal at the brewery. I was told that it is similar to the MacGregor's Dim Wit in that they both contain coriander, but one has orange peel (Partly Sunny?) while the other has lemon peel (Dim Wit?).

Poured a huge white head that faded slowly to a ring around the glass leaving only a few specs of lace along the way. Hazy sunshine colored beer with a a few small streams of carbonation. Mild aroma full of corainder with a splash of fresh vegetation. Plenty of coriander in the flavor along with a very light, almost dry malt base. I'm pretty sure this one has the orange peels in it since there is a mellow citrus flavor towards the end. There is a hint of bitterness in the finish that never fully materializes. It's light and fluffy with a little less carbonation then most witbiers. It's missing that tangy lemon wheat flavor I like in wits, and there isn't really anything else going on to make this beer interesting. Not a bad beer, but not what I'm looking for in a witbier.

The third of three Ithaca samplings tonight in preparation for the Brew Fest tomorrow...slightly cloudy, off-yellow unfiltered body... thin dissipating white head--it's a wheat, yes... bright, full wheat scents--consistent but not spectacular... medium-bodied, evenly textured to the tongue... lively and engaging... acidic, crisp wheat--nondescript otherwise--and a thirst quencher...a serviceable wheat that doesn't break new ground or sully the old....a good end to the evening.

Great looking bottle. Nice use of summer colors on the label. Pours cloudy golden. Thin head. Not much retention, and only a bit of lacing.Smell is of yeast, and spice with a hint of citrus. Body is malty, with good carbination. Taste is nicely spiced, and fruity. Refreshing. A good summer session beer.

Very dark orange and cloudy with a nice sized head. Light carbonation. Smells like wheat and spices with a little fruitiness. Nicely balanced flavors of spices and citrus; its more sweat than tart. The flavor is very good albeit on the mild side. It has a nice tiny zing on the tongue that livens it up and goes down incredibly smooth due to its lightness and is very refreshing and perfect for summer. Very drinkable.

Golden yellow in color with a slight chill haze. Poured with a short white foam that quickly reduced to a wispy cap that left sticky lacings on the glass. Lemon, earthy, grassy, bready aromas. Crisp, tangy feel with refreshing lively carbonation and a crisp finish. Tangy, spicy hop flavors with earthy grass and bready malt beneath from beginning to end. Finishes with a light tangy, herbal hop bitterness. Very crisp and refreshing.

Aroma definitely carries a strong banana smell to it with some clove in there as well. It smells like a hefeweizen for sure, but it's categorized as a wit here. Taste should be interesting.

Taste is a tale of two halves. It starts out with a good banana presence, as was seen on the nose. No surprise there. However, halfway through the swallow it takes on somewhat of a tangy and tart citrus turn along with clove spiciness and a hint of wheat lingering in the background. Very highly carbonated. Dry in the finish.

Again, it does seem more of a hefe to me. I don't see much that would make me think this is a wit. However, for a hefe, it isn't half bad. The tartness was the part of the taste that wasn't my favorite but the rest was very solid.

12 oz bottle poured into a pilsner - fridge - best before august 2009

Appearance: A hazy golden yellow has orange hues to it as well. The white head climbs to 1.5" and has a cakey, craterous texture. Good retention is shown, along with a trail of sudsy lace. So far, so good.

Smell: Somewhat of a distant aroma includes wheat malt and pale, too. Cracker and biscuit aroma sits next to some slight hop aromas.

Taste: Wheat malt leads the way, with some hop flavor not too far behind. A trace of minerals exists in both flavor form and mouthfeel. I'm disappointed that the taste is rather dull and uninteresting.

Mouthfeel: A trace of minerals makes the beer a bit dry. Smooth drinking, light body, and plenty of lively carbonation. Alcohol is difficult to assign.

Drinkability: A light beer in all aspects. This would be a great summer quencher, but could use more aroma and flavor. Worth a shot.

Thanks to Beertruth for this as an extra.

Pours a really carbonated bubbling bubbly medium head that falls into itself. Like the baking soda volcano you would make in third grade.

More of a cut grass macro smell. Something Laverne and Shirley would bottle.

Some sweet malt taste, some spice. Some hops.

Macro and sweet aftertaste.

Next time you reach for that MGD on that hot summer day, pick this one instead.

Pours partly cloudy with a short lived thin white head over a pale gold colored beer. Plenty of carbonation evident. Really not as hazy as I would like my witbier to be. Head retention is a disappointment as well.

Light citrus notes in the nose with plenty of spice. Coriander and pepper are notable. Taste is also dominated by spice, and there really is not that much of it. Just hardly anything else of note. There is a bit of a flowery hop finish and that's about it.

Nice light body and most definitely drinkable on a hot summer day. On said day I would be loathe to pass on any witbier. This is no exception, though I will probably not seek it out again. I'm not too excited about the Ithaca variety pack so far.

I got this as part of the Ithaca variety case from Bryn Mawr Beverage and poured it into a pint glass.
Appearance: A deep off yellow/brown body that is toped off with a large white head that disappears very fast and leaves no lace. It is very carbonated.
Smell: Very wheaty, bits of spice hidden, ester notes provided by the yeast.
Taste: Yeasty with lots of spices, kind of like a pumpkin pie, but no pumpkin.
Mouthfeel: Crisp.
Drinkability: Good.
Don't drink and review.

Partly sunny this beer is. Into my goblet a cloudy golden yellow with a big bubbly white head. Nose contains a lot of spice. Coriander, clove, slightly sour wheat and orange peel. Flavor is full of tangy lemon, orange and wheat. The spice quickly kicks in bringing out a lot of peppery yeast and coriander. It finishes with a crisp bitterness that dulls the spicy notes down and leaves a fruity finish. The body was light and crisp. Overall It's a decent beer but I thought the spicy middle was a little much.

Ithaca Partly Sunny...

Appearance-light golden color, poured into my wit glass, hazy white head appears, medium height but it does stay.

Smell-spicy aroma, light malt, hazy wheat and grainy smells throughout.

Taste/Mouthfeel-medium bodied, alcohol appears, nice mix of spice and grain, light hop finish with residual sweetness. Hazy alcoholic bang at at the end.

Drinkability-maybe a little spicy, but hell I like this kick every once in a while.

Overall-nice beer, the spiciness kicks it up a notch, has more going on than some others of the same style. Enjoyable. Recommended.

A- pours hazy soft yellow color with about 1 finger width head with nice retention
S-lemon, spices, some pine aroma and a slight bready/yeast aroma.
T-More of the same in the taste, lemon really comes out at first and you get that nice piny hop bitterness towards the end.
M- medium bodied
O-Spin on a whitbier. It has a bit more lemon in the aroma and taste that I think is traditionally in the style, aloong with the use of what seems like cascade hops adding to the citrus and pine notes. Nice refreshing beer.

Pours yellowish orange with golden highlights. Is very cloudy with a bubbly white head - little retention.

Smells of wheat, bitter lemon, fresh citrus, and warm spice - bitter herb.

Bitter lemon and sweet orange make for a lively mouth feel. Whole grain wheat comes after as it finishes with a bitter herb/spice. Drinking this on a partly sunny, partly cloudy PA day.

This is a slightly hazy, pale golden colored beer with a small white head.
The aroma is nothing much to speak of, other than a bit of yeast.
Its flavor begins as a normal wheat beer, then follows with some spice near the finish. There is also a slight citrus presence.
Mouthfeel is light in body and a bit under carbonated.

This is a decent beer, but nothing about it stands out as special to me.

12oz poured into a pint glass

this comes out a light orange shade thats rather transparent (kinda surprising me as this is a witbier?). nice foamy head with big bubbles sits atop and comes down gradually. some lacing found in there. nose is cloves coriander lemon zest and a bit of bubblegum and orange peel as well. this is definitely more like it. taste is initially coriander and clove followed by a citrus burst that for an instant is orange peel and then quickly transitions into lemon zest. finishes off with a mild bubblegum taste. working semi-silently behind all this is a mild bread taste which doesnt balance the beer but does give a bit of a malt presence. intense carbonation on the front of the tongue coming from this one. overall this is a good beer and goes down easy on this particular hot day.

Appearance - Medium light yellow. Cloudy, nearly opaque. Short creamy white head with some persistence.

Smell - Sweet and grainy. Banana and a little spice and lemon.

Taste - Sweet grain. Artificial banana with a lemony finish. Some spice, especially in the aftertaste - I'll go with cloves. Quite watery.

Mouthfeel - Light.

Overall - Flavor didn't live up to the aroma's promise.

Poured into hexagonal Hoegaarden glass.

A: Pours a hazy straw yellow. Maybe a bit more orange than that. One finger of head, dissipated quickly. This is NOT an unfiltered beer. A little hazy, but otherwise very clear, and no yeasty dregs to swirl. Kind of a turn-off, actually, as I like my wits unfiltered with plenty of peppery yeast.

S: Citrus at the front. SLIGHT hint of coriander in the nose. Has a perfume at the back that's somewhat sweet-smelling. It's an unindentifiable perfuminess.

T: Bit if wheat breadiness up front, with a citrus spike toward the back. Finish is spicy/perfumy, with a blend of black pepper and coriander, and something like lavender. The black pepper is the dominant spice.

M: Light-bodied and crisp.

D: Very. A solid, crisp summer refresher, and a nice wit that doesn't try and be a Hoegaarden clone. It also doesn't resemble Blue Moon, which tends to be another oft-cloned wit.

I picked up an Ithaca sampler that has four different beers, and this is one of them. I am a big fan of Ithaca as they are very consistent in their quality. This is their take on a Belgian Wit.

A: Pours a hazy golden yellow. Head is quite large, bit ultimately dissipates to nothing.

S/T: Smells pretty typical for a Belgian Wit. Lots of spice and citrus on the nose. The taste is a little more on the citrus side. Some spice and yeast character, but not a whole lot. A touch of banana in there as well as a slight pickle taste in the finish. In all, a pretty typical Wit. I have definetly had better, but this is still pretty solid.

M/D: Mouthfeel is pretty light and crisp. Finishes pretty clean and is quite refreshing. Not my favorite tasting Wit, but could easily drink more than one of these.

In all, Ithaca could have done better. Its a decent beer, but not up to par with every other offering I have had from them. Worth a shot, especially if you wanna beat the summer heat.

A - Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with about 3 fingers white foamy head. Head retention is great, lacing as well.

S - Very citrusy, clove-like scent. Slight malt scent coming through. Smells very sweet.

T - Same citrus notes as the scent, malt is more pronounced and well balanced. Clove taste appears in the finish. I've only had one saison, and it was by Ithaca, this shares a lot of the same tastes.

M - Light to medium bodied with a lot of carbonation.

D - Good drinkability, its simple yet complicated at the same time. Lots of changing tastes as the beer goes on.

Smells of lemon and spice. Pours a cloudy yellow with a lot of head even with a careful pour. Overly carbonated causing me to burp. Has a tangy kick to it which is uncommon for most beers. Tastes of lemon/orange and spice, and I had to edit this to add the banana in the finish. I agree. I dont know my spice notes well enough to dissect them. It has a light body to it so its very drinkable other than the carbonation. I would pick other beers before this one in the category but I wouldnt complain if this was what I had to drink.

Got this down at the brewery

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden body, with a sizable white head. The head retention wasn't great, I think it's just the glass. Decent lacing.

Smell: Very bready and yeasty, some corriander, slightly peppery. Average aroma, nothing that really excites the nose.

Taste/Feel: Bready and malty. Nice citrus aftertaste. Very smooth mouthfeel, could use more carbonation I think.

This is a nice Witbier, but it's nothing extrordinary. There's nothing "off" about it, so it's got room to get a lot better.

A: Pours a pale yellowish color with a slight haze to it with less then a fingers worth of head that dissipates to a very thin veil of lace across the top.

S: Aromas of wheat and light orange citrus coming thru with a very light hint of spice.

T: Lemon is the main characteristic here with light wheat and grain. Spice is very very faint, barely noticeable at all. Mild citrus bitterness at the end. If I had a lemon slice I would probably give it a 4.

M: Light carbonation works with the citrus flavors and theres a bit of dryness at the end.

O: Not a bad summer beer. Crisp and refreshing, def a nice summer brew.
