Volcanic eruption upon opening.

Pours... absolute foam. Can't see any beer. The entire glass is foam. I've never seen anything like this. After a few minutes I can see a fraction of light golden opacity. The color is good, but it's just a glass of foam.

Smells of Belgian yeast, wheat, bubblegum, actually kind of smells skunky.

Nothing impressing me, weaker tasting wheat beer. Slightly more Belgian but nothing special. Salty aftertaste, like prosciutto. A bit funky and skunky.

Ridiculous amount of carbonation, thin and overly bubbly.

Not a really good wheat beer. Would pass on this in the future without a doubt.

Had this beer as part of a night of beer tasting. 750ml bottle E!047 batch. Claims to be a Belgian American Ale. Using French and American Malts, US Hops but with the kicker being Belgian, English and wild Yeast. This is ever so appearant when poured into a glass. Inches of foam appear unlike any American beer I have had. It paralells Duvel or a Belgian Quad with the amount of foam that lingers after the pour. Way more foam than actual liquid; which is something I happen to admire in a beer. The liquid hangs there as hazy unfiltered golden color. Herbal and fruit but definite unfiltered wheat characteristics.

750 ml bottle, Batch E!043. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy gold color with at least a couple inch frothy off-white head that stayed around for a very long time. There's also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like bready/wheat malt, lemon peel, floral hops, apples, and some grassiness. It tastes like bready/wheat malt, lemon peel, apricots, grass/hay and some light clove and peppery spice. I like the tartness in this brew, I didn't really expect that so it was a nice surprise. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and is well carbonated. I think this is good , I'd certainly like to try White Gold again in the future. $9.99 a bottle.

750ml brown glass bottle with classy descriptive label and papered-over branded pry-off pressure cap acquired via a friend and served into a Guinness stem-goblet in me parents' gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado, at me annual Christmas tasting. Batch# E!043. 8% ABV confirmed.

Served cold - straight from me fridge - and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

Gushes upon opening.

A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.

Pours almost entirely foam/head of white colour. Decent creaminess and thickness. Decent consistency. Fluffy. Head retention is good - about 4-5 minutes.

Body colour is a hazy yellow-orange. Translucent. No floating yeast particles are visible.

Overall, it's a bit hazy for a pale wheat.

Sm: Wheat, farmhouse character (mainly yeast), clove, pale malt, pilsner malt, floral hop character, citrus zest, A bit starchy. Some biscuity Belgian yeast character.

A pleasant aroma of mild strength. Perfumey, soft, and airy.

T: Clove, pale malts, wheat, farmhouse yeast character, pale malts, pilsner malts, and floral hop character. Vague citrus zest. A biteen starchy. Biscuity Belgian character. Great balance. Build is cohesive - nearly gestalt. It's got a hint of sourness, which lends it some nuance. Very intricate for the style.

Above average depth and duration of flavour. Average intensity of flavour.

No alcohol comes through.

Mf: "Bone-dry finish?" Sure. Smooth. Great presence on the palate. Perfect carbonation. Complements the flavour profile well. Nicely soft.

Not oily, astringent, gushed, hot, boozy, or harsh.

Dr: Extremely drinkable. Hides its ABV incredibly. I'd definitely buy it again. More great work from Ithaca. I'd recommend it to friends. Well worth trying. Really solid. I could easily kill more than one bottle in a night.

High B
