A: Very obviously highly carbonated with a gigantic glass filling fluffy off-white head. This will take a few pours to get a glassful. Foam starts creeping out of the bottle as well. Frothy, whipped head sits on a peachy/orangey golden with plenty of haze & steady clouds of small bubbles that quickly rise to the head, bounce off, & cascade back down. Head turns rocky with greate retention and gobs of amazing lace. Gorgeous. Second half of bottle is cloudy but still glowing golden.

S: Slightly tart lemon on the surface with some sweeter stone fruit deeper down and touches of juicy orange/tangerine and a fair bit of tropical fruit mix that is focused on pineapple. Fruity citrus blends into rind & herbal & softly spicey hop character. Earthy yeast with a hint of funk and more tartness. Just noticeable dry & grainy malt with touches of biscuit, toasty grain, and a kiss of candi pils sweetness.

T: Like the nose, but less fruity and more robust, burly, and earthy / funky. Opens with lemon tartness, citrus rind, & a hint of juicier fruit (apricot / pineapple / & white grape skin) and a hint of pils malt sweetness. A touch of dry & toasty biscuit appears as the softer notes fade, and then gives way as well when lemon, ring, & tartness return with strength. Fairly firm bitterness is present as spicy, herbal, & earthy hop character joins the fray. Mild phenolics as well. Earthy note gets a bit funky &peppery in the finish with a hint of barnyard. Gets more orangey and spicy as it warms.

M: This might actually be medium body, but with the plentiful and active carbonation, and the tart and slightly acidic bit, it seems lighter. It appears to have some residual sugars and opens juicy. Then the bit of pucker come in and leads to a rustic drying finish – bite, effervescence, & acid/tartness forward – and earthy spice at the back. Quenching and cleansing.

D: Eclectic blend of style components is what this one is, but it all blends super well and is very appealing. Franco-Belgian-American-wit-wild-triple-saison-BPA-APA-APWA. . . . WTF, this is just nice stuff.

App- A very vibrant orange with a ton of yellow mixed in. A slow forming 1 finger white head left quickly with no cling or lace but left a 1/8" ring of bubbles.

Smell- A good mix of a lot of things. Yeasty, floral, citrus, funk, barn, hay and its a APWA. Go fiqure!

Taste- I really enjoyed this beer. I liked the layering of different flavors from the wheat to the funk and hay notes and then to a little bit of apple juice and to the different wild yeast notes. Was very different and very tasty.

Mouth- A thin medium body and a medium carbonation with residual apple juice and funk with some good yeast notes.

Drink- Many things going on in this glass and I really enjoyed it. Yeasty, funky, fruity and floral. I would love another bottle.

Nice huge white head poured out which settled to a thin layer on top. Slightly hazy gold, orange, and yellowish body. Some lacing and lots of carbonation streaming up the glass. Some floaties swirling around as well.

Mild farmhouse like funk sits behind lemon, yeast esters, oranges, citrus zest, and a touch of fresh doughy bread.

Tastes a lot like a slightly sour orange juice. A little of the wild yeast flavors come through at the middle and carry through the finish. Slightly chalky mouthfeel, tart, some lemon rind/light floral flavors, carbonation glides across the palate, and drys out quite a lot in the finish.

This is an easy drinking beer...especially at 8%, not tasting/feeling like it is over 5%. I would love the wild yeast to play a bigger part here. I wish it were to over take this beer. This would be an amazing base beer to a huge sour overhaul. All in all I find this to be very enjoyable and have plenty of really good qualities. A unique take on a wheat beer and is not like any Belgian-American beer in the same style category.

750ml Bottle - from the Party Source in Syracuse, enjoyed during the Super Bowl

Appearance - Slightly hazy yellow/amber colour with a massive size foamy white coloured head. There is a high amount of carbonation and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Lemon, green grapes, clove/coriander, yeast, floral

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste lemons and wheat mixed with a lot of yeast flavour. There is also quite a bit of floral/peppery notes and some green grapes and a woodiness. As the beer warmed up I could pick up on some hops. It ended with a floral/yeasty dry aftertaste.

Overall - A quality beer that is well worth its price. Ithaca makes some fantastic beers and I'm happy I gave this one a try. The alcohol was well hidden and 750ml was the perfect amount for me.

The current release of White Gold (E!40) should not be confused with the prior beers of the same name. The new bottling is a compete departure from the prior releases. It is fermented clean with traditional ale yeasts and lacks the Brett infection of prior years. It also seems to have been fermented at cooler temperatures as the esters are much more reserved. Additionally it is quite hoppy. White Gold still has it's characteristic balance and texture, but that is the end of the commonalities.

Unsuspecting fans of the old White Gold are in for a surprise and maybe a bit of disappointment. Still a tasty beer, but very very different.

When I bought this I wasn't paying attention that it was going to be a sour ale. The beer poured out as a hazy yellowish gold color with a large fizzy white head on top. The smell of the beer had lots of wild yeast sour notes on the nose. I wasn't able to even get much besides that from the beer. The taste of it was also quite sour and really killed off any of the soft wheat flavors that might have been in there before the wild yeast was tossed in. The mouthfeel was a little like champagne, very bubbly and fizzed up inside the mouth. Overall this beer wasn't all that impressive to me. Had I read the label more or something I may not have even bought it.

This beer was a treat, a nice deviation from what US brewers are doing these days, and I welcome it.

The beer is a lovely grain color with a strong finger or two of white foam and spotty lace. The smells are grainy (in the farmy way, fresh and sweet), grass, yeasty, and there is the slightest indication of tartness. I get a hint of pear on the nose.

The flavor follows through and offers a nice bite behind my jaw of tartness, but this is short lived. Quickly a nice, sweet wheaty tone comes through and again the pear flavor is present for me. As the beer warms, I get really nice white wine notes (particularly reminds me of naked Chardonnay). A sincerely lovely beer.

Thin bodied with lower carbonation and a semi dry finish. I would offer this beer to many wine enthusiasts I know and expect that there would be a significant appreciation for the beer. A wonderful, insghtful and innovative beer for the US.

Light urine body, big bubbles.

Strong wheat character, light wine nature. Little bit of bubblegum. Quick bursts, flies out before I knew it.

Opens a light tartness, some low bittering, grainy flavors, finish oxidized hops. The wheat is easily identifiable. The light acetic character complicates things but still easily seen. Like a Berliner Weiss.

Light body, great carbonation, sticky hops.

This beer is surprisingly great.
