Poured from 750ml bottle. Many many thanks go out to betsona and Lukafer for both bringing bottles to the tasting!

A- Pours a hazy golden yellow color. The middle of the beer is more golden color than the rest of the beer. Two and a half finger white head shows fantastic retention. Lots of sticky thick lacing which is sheety on the sides of the glass.

S- From the first sniff I get tons of brett funk with a nice underlying citrusy lemon tone. Oak comes through next and stays with a light grassy barnyard aroma. Hints of wet grain lead up in the backing of the aroma along with light green apple. The brett in this calm and very relaxed which I found to be nice at least in the aroma department

T- Upon first sip the brett comes out in a nice light pucking tone. Light green apple quickly gets covered with a large citrus tone that becomes a dominate flavor in this beer. Light wet grain/hay flavor in the the underbody mix well with a light woody note. The sourness in this beer to me is very calm and this leads to more flavors coming through. Lemon screams throughout the beer in both over and undertones depending on the portion of the beer. Light sweetness on the ending along with hints of alcohol and a mellowing brett overtone.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. High alcohol drying on the palate but doesn't take away from overall mouthfeel. Lemon, brett, and light oak left on the palate. Aftertaste is hints of alcohol, barrel notes, sourness, lemon, and wet hay are left in the aftertaste. Flavors were very well balanced more so than most beers like this. No off flavors were detected while drinking.

O- I thought this beer was amazing. A nice mellow wild ale that drinks fantastic. Lower ABV makes this a whole 750ml drinker if you dare. To be honest it was much more than I thought it could be.

Bottle shared by Curran at his tasting.

Pours a hazy golden yellow, with a small half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells fairly tart and funky, with lots of lemon, peach, and white grapes.

The taste is similar. This is slightly less sour than I was expecting, but still fairly puckering. There's a strong champagne taste, with lots of tart and sour fruits- oranges, green apples, lemons, grapes, peaches. There's a good amount of lactic acid that lingers on the lips throughout drinking this.

Light to medium bodied, crisp, tart, and dry mouthfeel. Very drinkable. Medium carbonation is lovely and keeps this refreshing.

A wonderfully dry sour, I wish Ithaca could still make beer like this.

750mL bottle into a Teku
Batch # !010 (ie batch 1, bottled in 2008)

A huge thanks to dtmets84 for sending this one over in a trade. One of my top wants for a long time!

Beer review #521, and #95 out of the top 100 I set out to complete a couple years ago.

A: Pours an absolutely crystal clear pale golden yellow with 3 plus fingers width of white colored head. Head hangs around for a while before dissipating down to an outer ring. Leaves effectively zero lacing.

S: At first I get a big fruity aroma like apricots and peach, coupled with a white grape champagne dryness. There is also a citric and lactic tartness, and a subtle musty aroma. I then get barrel notes with oak and a bit of vanilla. Absolutely intoxicating aroma with a great combination of sweetness and tart sourness. I think this is the best aroma I have ever experienced in a sour ale.

T: Aggressive tartness up front, with lots of sour citrus notes. Subtle apple cider vinegar. Sour up front, with fruit flesh like peaches and apricot on the back end, then finishing up with a vanilla sweetness that lingers forever in the aftertaste. There are some funky Brett notes as well, that I can only describes as musty rather than barnyard. The sourness is puckering at times, in a really fantastic way. Wonderful balance; the sweetness on the finish pairing with the tartness up front, and just the perfect amount of funk. So complex, and so delicious.

M/D: There is a liveliness to the mouthfeel, with a huge effervescent bubbly carbonation. It has a medium body, and is drying on the finish. Drinkability is great, as I can't wait to take each sip.

O: Probably my favorite sour/wild ale to date and overall one of the best beers I have ever had.

A: Small head, hazy Orange(ish) color, beautiful lacing

S: Nice sourness presence and the presence of fruit, grape, cherry, melon, some brett & lemon, oak….great aroma

T: Similar to the smell: a calm sourness/funk/tartness, oak notes & brett, accompanied by the lemon, grapes, and melon

M: Fizzy/carbonated; usual suspects of the oak, sour, tart, and funk existence; light/medium-bodied

O: Quite a tasty product from Ithaca and a superb demonstration of the sour, funky, wild ale style
