750ml bottle poured into a Mikkeller wine glass. Bottle generously sent by mikereaser in the 'Hype Train BIF', thanks Mike!

Comes in a champagne bottle, corked, capped, and capsuled.

Batch E!032

A - Pours a light red, nearly pink color, similar in appearance to a rose wine or a blush. It's almost completely transparent, giving a look into small torrents of bubbles that rise from the glass. There's about a finger's worth of snow-white head. There's not much retention, leaving just small islands of clumpy foam. The lacing as well is quite fragmented, quickly breaking apart and falling.

S - The nose is full of Brett funkiness and smells exceptionally sour. Full of acidic notes and slight sugar before going all out with the fruit. Of course there's a good amount of blueberries, but I'm also getting some tart raspberry and apples.

T - Phew, this beer is definitely delivering on the promises of sour that the nose brought. The Bretty barnyard funk gives it a nice edge, and then the tartness comes to bring even more depth. I'm surprised by how much oak I'm actually getting in this, which is a nice addition. The fruits are the highlight here as well, with actually a bit more apple and grape than blueberry. In fact, I think the blueberries are a bit overshadowed by the rest of the flavors.

M - Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with good, bubbly carbonation. The tartness really leaves a tingling feeling in the corner of the mouth. What really brings me to like the mouthfeel is how clean it feels in the finish.

D/O - Drinkability is moderately high. Overall I feel this is a well-crafted beer that brings a nice marriage between high sourness and crisp flavors. I would've loved to see more blueberries elsewhere besides the finish, but I can't say I can complain with what flavors I did get.

Batch E!032.
Blind tasting, and had this one next to a E!027 Brute. I hadn't been a huge fan of the Brutes I've had before, but I liked 27 a LOT, and it definitely was my favorite between that and this beer in our tasting.

Cloudy pour, ruby-amber in color, with a thin, wispy, white head that dissipated, leaving a few stray bubbles on top. Well, even in a blind tasting, it was apparent there was either fruit or flower petals in this one. Funky aroma, brett, horseblanket, leather, light berries just barely peeking through. Twinge of tartness up front in the taste, floral notes, light berry notes that probably didn't come out as much as when the beer was fresh, funky yeast, leather, fresh cut grass. Light-medium body, prickly and somewhat acidic mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Very nice overall, even if Brute overshadowed it, IMO.

Bottle pour at the Ithaca Luminous release, how fitting, right?

This was a huge highlight, possibly my favorite sour ever.

Pours a murky, hazy, golden orange, with not much head or lacing.

Smells like a great mixture of sweet and sour- with some floral notes as well.

The taste is pretty awesome. Mild to medium tartness, like some sort of puckering sour candy, with some citrus fruits as well, some hay, sour lemon. There is a long and sour finish to this one- it lingers for a while on the palate, and leaves the lips tingly.

Light bodied, crisp, refreshing, spritzy carbonation.

Just awesome. I wish they still made this one.
