Bottle pour at the Ithaca Luminous release, how fitting, right?

This was a huge highlight, possibly my favorite sour ever.

Pours a murky, hazy, golden orange, with not much head or lacing.

Smells like a great mixture of sweet and sour- with some floral notes as well.

The taste is pretty awesome. Mild to medium tartness, like some sort of puckering sour candy, with some citrus fruits as well, some hay, sour lemon. There is a long and sour finish to this one- it lingers for a while on the palate, and leaves the lips tingly.

Light bodied, crisp, refreshing, spritzy carbonation.

Just awesome. I wish they still made this one.

750 mL bottle courtesy of sliverX pours a hazed dark gold color with a small, fizzy off white head. Gushed slowly, so beware.

Nose does show a little bit of blueberry tartness, but it is mostly sour goodness from the bacteria. YES! Beautiful...love it already.

Taste is so well balanced it is just about perfect. Its sour, but not overly so, there still remains a hint of fruit and brett. There are not too many beers that I think would be perfect in almost every situation, but this one comes damn close. Morning, noon or night...all perfect. If we could get breweries to do this easily and drink have sixers available for ~$15, Nirvana my friends...Nirvana.

Poured into a Fantome tulip on 5/29/12

Batch E0!21

Split with spider889 and MbpBugeye

A) Medium hued burnt and browned orange. What an effervescent critter - it filled up about 80% of the glass. As Seth put it, it looked like cotton candy melting in water. It is a furious dissipation and leaves speckled lace. The second pour holds about 1/3rd inch of retention (and hold it does for a long time). Light pink foam.

S) The aroma is on the floral side in the sense it has a soft blueberry note. Earthy blueberry skin and semi-sweet blueberry flesh tones. The barrel is modest too with mild, musty oak. Faint husk notions. It smells clean at first but turns funky as it warms.

T) Tart ghosts haunt the palate with a semblance of Sour Patch candy, just not quite as sweet. Upfront, it is sour enough. The midsection and finish turn toward raw brett funk; musty, dank and dirty. The oak imparts a dry, vapidly wooden finish. More brett and barrel than berry at this point. There is faint blueberry when cold but it falls away entirely once warm.

M) The feel is tilted toward the lighter side. Carbonation is vigorous and fizzy, accenting the sour flavors. Damp oak residuals.

D) LeBleu is a decent-drinking, brett-heavy tart and sour sipper. Pretty much any blueberry has fallen off by now. I like it pretty well as is, but I should have drank a bottle fresh.
