pale yellow not too heady pour. aptly named, as the floral aroma is astounding! thick, nectarlike but clears easily. hop bitterness is crisp at the end, doesn't linger too long. by far the most fragrant of IPA's, and not your typical litchi fruit nose...loved it!

Bottle poured into glass yields a medium sized bubbly head that is slighty off-white in color. Beer is a dull cloudy yellow with a hint of orange. Head recedes to leave a thin film on top. Moderate lacing.

Great smell - grapefruit, orange, and floral are most noticable. Pinneapple and pine also present with a bit of bread. Taste is incredible as well, starts with orange and floral, then comes grapefruit bitterness, finishing with pine and bread. Mouthfeel is very creamy, medium/heavy body, moderate/high and slightly biting carbonation.

Hazy orange body with a solid finger of white head.

Nose is tops. This may be the best smelling IPA ever, including Heady Topper. Sweet mango and lemon. Wow!

Flavor is tart, crisp and just a bit sweet. Certainly not a big giant malt bomb like DFH 90, but I would say that this is more balanced than a lot of recent IPAs I've tried. Huge, juicy hops are everywhere. Tropical fruits and sharp citrus. Moderate apparent bitterness married with huge aroma. Really nice!

Mouthfeel is slick and stripping. Citrus burn.

Overall is excellent. I like this more than Pliny, but maybe a little less than Heady Topper. If the numbers don't reflect that, oh well...reviewing is inherently subjective.

12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

pours a clear, dull golden yellow yielding a foamy, relativey lasting 2 finger head; patchy lacing.

yowzah, the nose is exceptional. big fragrant bouquet of citrus, a touch of pine, and some caramel maltiness. delicious aroma, just what i look for in my IPAs. and taste isn't far behind, delivering fresh citrus, apricot, some floral characters and a malty backbone. bitter hoppiness in the finish. outstanding IPA. really enjoyable.

medium bodied, medium-low carbed mouthfeel; i already see this earning a spot in my regular rotation.

Drank on-tap at Lizard Lounge, Cambridge, MA
Served in a pint glass

Cloudy, pale straw yellow in appearance with a bubbly, one-finger head of bright white froth. A thin sheet of lacing coated the upper portion of the glass.

The nose was fantastically fruity and fragrant. Peaches, apricots and nectarines leapt from the glass. Lots of tropical fruit notes as well. Mango and pineapple were quite noticeable. Overall, sweet, yet not overly so. A touch of citrus was also detectable.

Like the aroma, the flavor profile was super hoppy and balanced. Fortunately, the sweetness seemed to come from the fuitiness of the hops, rather than from an overload of caramel malts. Peaches and nectarines came through strong, along with some tropical fruits. Grapefruit pith appeared in the off-dry finish. For a 7.5% ABV beer, this drank like a charm.

The mouthfeel was medium bodied. A bit thinner than anticipated. Smooth and creamy with a fine, moderate effervescence.

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed Ithaca's Flower Power IPA. If you like your IPAs well balanced, yet not overly malty, and loaded with tons of peach and nectarine flavor, then look no further. Flower Power is the real deal.

On tap in the tasting room of the brewery and then later from a freshly filled growler. Dark amber with a nice head of light tan foam. Very attractive lacing on glass. Aromas are of fresh floral hops, with apricot and gapefruit tones. Good body with plenty of maltiness and a fantastic flowery/fruity taste that makes you want more. Taste is hoppy up front for sure but not so much that it is undesired. This is a very nicely balanced hop attack. Plenty of citrus fruit flavors. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, just what you would want to let the hops shine through. For a hop-head like myself this beer has a drinkability that is very good.

Enormous thanks go out to the incredible trader, bjspicer (Brian), for this killer extra in our recent trade! Knocked it off my wants.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours an uber-cloudy dark honey-gold, with a finger-width bone white head on top. Great retention; pretty globs of lace on the side. The nose on this beer is rivaled, in my experience, only by the brothers Pliny. Huge waves of citrus tones, pine, honey, light booze. My nose can hardly even take this massive amount of olfactory goodness. Perfect. I would douse myself with this scent were it a cologne.

The mouth is thick, bordering on heavy for the style. Not filling though. Still, the drinkability is not bad as it is so freaking good. As another reviewer notes, the hops are in full flavor here, and not just manifesting bitterness, though it is bitter. Lots of fruit noted like grapefruit, mango, pineapple, and finishes sweet with notes of honey and apple. Excellent aftertaste, as the bitterness isn't tiring or scalding. This is a spectacular IPA. I would love some more of this. I think this is the standard for accessible, non-Imperialized IPAs. Highly recommend.

Hazy straw with a white foamy head with some nice soap like lacing. Slight bubbles.

Wow! Sweet peach, floral and grapefruit. That's it and that's all it needs for aroma.

Big time grapefruit, sweet malt, bread, caramel, than slight bitterness comes in. Very tasty.

Light body, smooth, barely noticeable carbonation.

This is a great IPA! Very close to a Imperial but stays just under that classification. This is should be on the list for top IPA's.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Boston Lager glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear, brownish-gold color. Has a medium-sized, frothy head that dissipates quickly and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: Has a strong citrus and floral hops aroma with a touch of sweet maltiness. This might be the best smelling IPA I've come across.

Taste: Starts off assertively bitter with citrusy and grassy hops. Finishes with a grapefruit/lemon flavor and a bit of sweet malt and grain. Leaves a nice citrus aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: A decent amount of body with a bit of a sticky finish.

Drinkability: A truly superior IPA and perhaps my new favorite. It is full of expressive hop flavors and is still quite drinkable despite an assertive bitterness. Certainly not a beginner's brew, but something that I think would appeal to all true beer lovers.

A: Slightly hazy copper color. A few particles are floating around in my pint glass. A finger of white head with sticky lacing. Great looking IPA.

S: This is where this beer kills. The nose is dominated by intense grapefruit. Just a slight hint of mango. Earthy hop cones. Just a little bit of delicious piney resin.

T: Big citrus right up front. Grapefruit. Citrus. Just fresh hops right in your face. Regular Flower Power is great this just bumps up the intensity of the hops a bit. You do get a little bit more of that planty taste though too.

M: Medium bodied. Great carbonation for a growler. A little bit sticky.

D: I am torn as to which version I like better. The nose kills on this beer. The body is a little thicker on the regular version as well. Total coin toss. Excellent beer.

So after I put up this review I was told by a very reliable source that all Flower Power has been unfiltered for a year now. Thanks for the clarification.

Pours a yellow-amber-orange combination with a one finger off-white head. Good lacing and solid retention. The aroma is awesome. Strong grapefruit and floral scents. You don't even need to get your nose in the glass to notice. Aroma stands out from all the IPA's I've tried. Good floral and grassy hops. A bit of citrus and tropical malts as well. Decent malt backbone and a nice bite to finish. Again, awesome aroma and the taste follows and does not disappoint.

Appearance-Pours a tall soapy head with good retention and lots of sticky lacing. A slightly clouded orange amber beer.

Smell-Huge perfume of hops, citrus and pine. One of the best smelling IPAs.

Taste-Pine, citrus and spicy perfume hop flavors in equal proportion overlay a good malt background. While hop/alcohol/malt balance is reasonable the hops really steal the show here.

Mouthfeel-Moderately sticky mouthfeel from lots of hops. carbonation is on the lighter, smooth side.

Drinkability-So smooth and flavorful for a for a pretty high 7.5% ABV IPA. I could drink nothing but this beer if necessary. Very much a West Coast style IPA. Don't these guys know they're brewing in NY? An outstanding IPA.

Pours into my glass a brilliant golden amber hue with a solid two fingers of creamy foam that leaves some spotty lacing as it falls. Definitely makes me want to drink it! Aromas of bright, fresh hops shine through. Citric, floral and herbaceous they rule the show here. Smooth malty backbone. Lovely and pungent.

First sip is bright hops upfront with more resinous citric and floral flavors flowing across the palate. Fresh and vibrant with a well balanced caramel malt backbone. Not overly bitter - but there's a nice bite on the way down and lingering hops on the finish. Well balanced, super tasty IPA. Yum.

Mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodied - super refreshing and easy drinking. Overall, this is just a great IPA and I wish I could obtain it easier!! Very glad to have finally had the opportunity to try it, thanks Lum!

MF: Medium bodied, soft carbonation, great balance

I almost never found this beer, but it turns out my girlfriend is awesome. As we were driving out of Ithaca after a nice lunch, we passed by the brewery. She had had a brown ale from the brewery at lunch and enjoyed it, so she said, "Hey, we should stop." I was surprised, but of course immediately turned right and into the parking lot. We sat down and tasted a few samples and were very impressed. I never would have guessed it, but across the board Ithaca was fantastic, so we had to bring squeeze a variety 12-pack into the car. Very glad we did.

APPEARANCE: Poured a brilliant golden color from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. Almost a full inch of light, fluffy head that remained seated on top of the glass for a good three to four minutes. Fairly solid lacing, but not as much as I would have expected given the impressive and long-lasting head.

SMELL: You can smell this beer from afar as soon as it is poured. Amazing and powerful floral scent - true to the name. This is going to be a sweet, hoppy bomb.

TASTE: Despite the sweet smell, a bitter undertone is noticeable with as soon as the Flower Power hit's the tongue. The nose does come through, however, and a wave of sweet crests mid-sip before receding to let the bitter flavor close the sip.

MOUTHFEEL: Crisp and clean, yet still somehow a bit heavy. Lively bubbles also seemed to cleanse the tongue, but like apple juice, rather than quench my thirst, it left me wanting another sip.

OVERALL: This is a flat-out outstanding beer. However, being a bit on the rich side and at 7.5%, it may be tough to down more than two or three of these in a sitting.

Served in a mug

A: Pours a hazy golden amber color with a substantial amount of frothy white head. leaves a decent amount of lacking in the glass

S: Strong citrusy smell reminiscent of grapefruit, strong hop presence

T: Very nice bitterness and citrus like taste that really wakes up the taste buds across the tongue. Citrus taste is not as strong as the smell would allude

M: Slight carbonation tingle, leaves a nice bitter note on the back of the tongue with the finish

D: Such a great tasting and smelling brew that it is a real chore to try not to guzzle down all of it in one go.

Overall, i absolutely loved this brew. I have had it before and was not as impressed but this time around it blew my socks off

O- a good offering from Ithaca... good balance with good flavor... one of the better ipa's but not very easy to come across

A - Hazed deep golden with a towering white head that has great retention and good lacing down the glass. Not sure how this could look any better.

S - Great, unique combination of mangoes and tropical fruits, some floral notes, and a sweet honey-like caramel malt sweetness.

T - Starts out with big pine flavors, a solid caramel malt mid palate, finishes with pine and grapefruit notes.

M - Medium body, ample carbonation, finish leaves some hop oils in the mouth. Bitterness is moderate, and not out of control.

D - Drinks almost like a DIPA, which I like. Big, bold, balanced flavors without an insane bitterness make this a great IPA. One of my new favorites.

A - Pours a golden yellow. Thick white head gives way to delicate lacing.

S - Hops. Grapefruit.

T - All hops in the mouth. Centennial and Citra. Lots of grapefruit. Pale malt to help to create what is a surprising level of balance, given the bold hops presence in this beer. Not tropical but certainly bright and very botanical; very refreshing. Bitter and peppery in its finish.

M - Medium lush.

O - Wow. One of the great IPAs out there.

*review from notes on 5/24/10*

Bottled on date: 5/11/10

Pours a hazy copper color, with a good 2 fingers of thick head and tons of lacing - great looking IPA. Huge hop aromas coming out of my pint glass, lots of fruits (apricot, grapefruit, mango) as well as some nice floral and pine scents. Taste is so fresh (it is only 2 weeks old), amazing citrus flavors as well as some earthiness, and just enough of a malt balance in the middle. Flower Power has a nice, crisp bitter (piney) finish that makes you keep coming back for more. I never miss an opportunity to pick up some flower power, especially when really fresh!

The best-smelling beer I've ever had, and one of my favorite IPAs as well.

Looks great, smells unbelievably great - I'll admit, I'm a sucker for any "floral"-type IPA. Something about it just makes the beer taste better. Especially when you don't actually taste the flowery part in the beer itself. I don't know how they do it - it's a mystery!

One of my "top 3" beers. I'd drink this anytime, anywhere.

Poured into a MJ tasting glass.

Pours a cloudy, orange hue with an off white creamy head of about a finger and a half. Head drops slowly, leaving a nice lacing.

Aromas of big grapefruit, citrus, resiny hops. Malt sweetness hides in there, but you can find it if you look.

First sip is of a bracing, citrusy bitterness. Big grapefruit flavor. A hint of malt sweetness, but this is all about the hops. Long bitter grapefruit finish. Any carbonic bite is hidden by the hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium, with a big resinousy coating of alpha acids. Slight pucker at the cheeks, not quite astringent. Very dry.

Very drinkable. Nice representation of the style. Although the flavors are big and aggressive, they do not cause palate fatigue. I could drink a couple of these in a sitting. Too bad I only bought one.

12oz bottle into a tumbler glass

Bought straight from the brewery about a week ago so super fresh.

A- Pours a nice traditional IPA color. Golden honey orange with a white 1 finger head that sticks around till you start drinking. No lacing or retention.

S- Strong earthy grass hops with touches of grapefruit, citrus, and tropical fruit like notes. Slight resin or cat piss like aroma in there. Just a general hop bomb!

T- Brutal bitter hops that immediately dry out the mouth. Tons of flavors coming off them like fresh cut grass, pine, and citrus. On top of the crushing complex hop profile as it warms the more bread like malts come through with touches of sweet caramel.

M- Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a brutal bitter finish and mouth feel. Leave your tongue behind for this one.

Overall I have to say for a regular IPA this has quickly become my favorite. It's simple and straight forward but yet pretty complex at the same time.

First stab at an Ithaca offering. Very Impressed. Being a Hop-Head this first taste was right up my ally. Hops flows through the nose at first, great but not overwhelming bite.

Smooth finish with a pleasing aftertaste. Similar in sweetness to Green Monsta, a bit more floral, hence the name i suppose.

Always a fan of high abv completely unnoticed, you get it here. High velocity hop aroma and flavor, instantly made my top 5 APA list.

16oz tulip

This beer pours beautifully and forms a sizeable head, perfectly filling my tulip with a bit over two fingers of pure white head. The beer is straw colored with just a touch of haze.

The aroma bursts with citrus and grapefruit with a touch of sweetness, blood orange? I love the scent on this beer, when fresh, since it really pops and blasts you with hops.

The flavor continues with the strong grapefruit flavor with bitterness scraping along the back of your throat. I would say the malt is pretty delicate in this one, but supports the hops perfectly.

Overall this is almost a perfect example of an IPA. Ithaca really brings it with this one, it lives up to the billing.
