Poured into a pint glass. This pours a hazy yellow orange with a finger of fluffy white head.

The aroma gives of a little bit of sweetness with mango hop aromas and some nice bitterness in the finish. The pallet is slightly sweet with tropical fruits and a little bit of a cucumber flavor. Nice and bitter on the finish.

The body is light with prickly carbonation. Overall a nice offering. Wouldn't mind grabbing this once in a while.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass- pours a pretty clear orange/copper color with minimal head, retention and beautiful streaky lacing.

Smell is potent- I get a lot of resin-y simcoe hops, like a forest of spruce trees. Smells like an open bag of hops. Delicious.

Taste is right on the money for a single IPA- lots of hops on top of the palate at all times, undercurrent of pale malt sweetness, LONG semi-sweet/semi-dry finish. Excellent.

Mouthfeel is very good- medium light body up front while light to moderate carbonation washes of the tongue. I might prefer a tad bit more carbonation- nonetheless, this is an exceptional IPA and one I will seek out more again.

Definitely a palate ruiner- I tried Brew free or Die IPA afterwords and couldn't taste a thing. Enjoy Hopheads!

Fairly hazy caramel color with a white 1cm frothy white head. Nice retention and lacing.

Very nice bright clean nose full of sweet citrus, pineapple and a touch of floral hops with a slight undertone of candylike malt.

Flavor is quite nice as well. Again big bright fresh hops with citrus, pineapple and a little floral starting off with a slight hop bitterness, transitioning nicely into a balanced mild candy malt back end.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium-high carbonation.

Overall an excellent IPA. Exploits the hops quite well with a great balance of candied malt. I must try!

A: Cloudy, orange/tangerine hue. A light orange head as well. Slow moving bubbles. Appears to be well carbonated.

S: The aroma is amazing on this beer, I am guessing these are citra hops. So citrusy, orange, tangerine, lemon, light grapefruit. Sweet. So delicious.

T: The taste is also very citrusy, like grapefruit juice. Unfortunately, super bitter, also like grapefruit juice. In fact, if you carbonated grapefruit juice and added a shot of vodka, you might get this beer. It is tasty, and actually refreshing, but I would have liked some firmer malt sweetness to balance the overwhelming bitterness. That's just how I like my IPAs. No alcohol burn detectable.

M: Light mouthfeel makes this drinkable, and probably also results in the absence of sweetness. The grain bill must be highly fermentable in this beer. I do like the drinkability though.

O: Major points for aroma. Everything else made it a solid and drinkable IPA. It would be great to try fresh at the brewery.

Reviewing the Flower Power from Ithaca Beer Company out of New York.
Score: 93

No bottling date. Served in a Stella Artois chalice and enjoyed on 03/17/12.

Appearance: Pours a translucent golden color with one finger of cream colored seafoam head that settles into a ring around the glass and paper thin oil layer capping most of the beer. Amazing lacing, superior retention. 4.5/5

Smell: Mangoes and peaches. Bright tangerine, grapefruit and pineapple too. Orange juice, rose pedal, floral hops, piney hop oil and pine sap. 4.5/5

Taste: Sweet and hoppy citrus fruit flavor throughout. Tangerine, pine, and oranges up front. Orange juice/pineapple juice backbone. A little earthy hops towards the back half. Tons of complex hop flavor. Layering bitterness. Finishes with a bitter grapefruit and pine flavor. Not very "in your face," but extremely refreshing, flavorful. It's an east coast brew that is true to the west coast IPA style. 4/5

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus bodied, medium-high carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Bitter finish. 4/5

Overall: A superior single IPA. I would absolutely drink this with regularity if I lived in Ithaca's distribution network.

Recommendation: Seek this brew out fresh. Casual beer drinkers and hop haters might not enjoy this one, though.

Pairings: Hamburgers

Cost: $10.99 for a six pack.
