Best before September of 2013 (notched on the label) so this is pretty fresh.

A: Pale-yellow with golden shades. Typical white fizzy, fluffy head. This one dissipates quickly leaving behind little lace and retention.

S: Sweet, sticky hops and honey. Pine, fruit, some wood. Surprisingly malty, especially as it warms.

T: Similar to the nose. Pretty sweet and malty but enough hops to prove it's an IPA. Fairly one-side, though. Not too complex nor ultra hoppy and floral as expected.

M: Smooth, clean, delicious. Good hop bite in the finish. Good body and carbonation.

O: A very good IPA but never lives up to the hype for me. I've had it a few times on draft and wasn't blown away so I wanted to wait to have it in a bottle and give it a proper review. To me, it's a middle-of-the-pack IPA.

Huge thanks to egrace84 for sharing this! Thanks Elliot!

reviewed from n otes taken 7/29/12.

Poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: Orangish yellow bodied beer with with 2 fingers of eggshell white head. Some spotty lace.

Smell: Floral, Pine and citrus notes. Touch of bready malts.

Taste: mild to moderate bitterness. Pine notes are first hop notes you get. Touch of citris and grass. Malts taste like a fresh baked biscuit with some honey and butter on it. The bitterness does not seem to linger too much. Goood balance between malt and hop profile with the hops being just a touch more prominent. Appropriate for the style no doubt.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Really drinkable IPA because it not over the top bitter.

Overall: The strong point of this IPA is that its not over the top bitter like most american IPA's. This really adds to drinkability factor while still having great hop profile. Nice job Ithaca!

Extremely surprised by this one. I was very impressed by the fresh hops on the nose. Carried plenty of bitterness but not overpowering. Lots of lychee flavor...my wife even asked me if there were lychees in the beer. Overall, an extremely bright flavorful IPA. Will drink many times again.
I should emphasize that I had this fresh from a growler, which may have really helped with the bright fresh hops on the nose. Not sure how this would be from a 6-month old bottle.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a Duvel tulip. Best by Nov (2012) notched on label. Purchased by my good friend Pat N at the brewery.

A: Slightly amber golden with 2 fingers of frothy nearly white foamy head with good retention and draping lace.

S: Floral, citrus, pine, and a little bit of tropical fruits with a fairly lush but not sweet caramel maltiness

T: Solid bitterness -- treads the line very well and spot on for the style -- with lemon, grapefruit, and orange citrus, pine, and floral notes and only a touch of resin. Less fruity in the flavor compared to the aroma. Solid grapefruit aftertaste.

M: Good body with slick mouthfeel and middle of the road carbonation for the style.

O: A really good American IPA which hits all of the good hops notes and drinks much easier than its 7.5%. Thanks Pat!
