Bottled 11/17/2013 - Served @48degrees in snifter.

A - Very dark black body, dark brown head. - ~1/4" head when poured in the center

S - Lots of bourbon, chocolate, toffee, coffee, malt, oak, vanilla

T - Bourbon with vanilla, toffee, oak, hops, and dark chocolate - Alcohol very present.

M - Creamy and chewy

O - Very complex, really good, Imperial stout. I thought this had similar aroma and taste as the Central Waters barlywine (which is also very good) with added chocolate, toffee, and vanilla notes. Very thankful to egrace84 for giving me a bottle of this. Prost!

Quick review, late at night, after splitting the bottle with a friend on his anniversary. Thanks to Yohann for the trade to make this happen.

Looked beautiful. Our glassware left a little to be desired - in a cottage on remote Brooks lake in Michigan, and ended up serving it in plastic wine glasses. But I couldn't have asked for a better night. Short tan head receded quickly into the glass, and left us with a glass of black. Smell for me was mostly bourbon, with a late kick of malt. Nice and thick in the mouth, perfect mild carbonation. But the flavor was a little one-dimensional to me. The bourbon was the center of attention here, dominating the nose and finish, with only a brief trip in the middle to experience some chocolate and vanilla. All in all a great experience and I would love to drink some more of this (if I could ever find it!), but I didn't experience as many dimensions of flavor as with some of my other favorite big stouts.

Appearance was that of all good stouts I've had, black with a small tan head that leaves behind a little lacing.

Smell was initially roasted notes with hints of chocolate, upon warming towards room temperature chocolate notes come through greater.

Taste is like nose except when warming there's another layer in a marshmallow like note that I really enjoyed.

Mouthfeel was thick and full bodied.

This goes in the top 3 BA stouts I've had with BA Abraxas and BA Sump Kyoto.
