12oz bottle, Julian dated 03514. Poured into an O'so snifter today, 4/6/2014.

App- dark black (illuminates very dark brown) body, one finger offwhite head with fair retention, lots of sticky rings of lacing. Looks very much the part of the stout.

Smell- Rich cocoa, milk chocolate, some roast malt, black coffee, a bit of earth. Very balanced nose. Smells great.

Flavour- Milk chocolate, roast malt, black coffee bitterness. A bit of dark chocolate bitterness, quite a bit of earthiness and a slight bit of umami on the back-end. A bit disjointed compared to the nose but still very smooth and fairly well integrated. A fine flavour profile.

Mouthfeel- This has historically been considered a thin bodied beer, and it is fairly thin bodied but not watery at all. The flavour profile packs enough of a punch to fill in the palate. Feel is somewhat creamy and feels fairly decently carbonated. Earthy bitter finish.

Overall- Solid imperial stout that's a steal at the $7.99/6-pack that I've seen it go for on local shelves. Sure, it's not overwhelmingly roasty or complex or even viscous, but this is still a good beer that's worth buying on its own merits. It's clearly an imperial stout to my palate, although the mouthfeel does suffer from it being a bit thin.

Pours a creamy, dark black. Mouthfeel is the thick and creamy too - probably the standout quality of this beer. Can't say the smell is terribly powerful - I'm straining to pick up much. Taste is chocolate, coffee, and (can I say it) a little bit root-beery. Not such a bad thing because none of the flavors are super bold. This is a solid, enjoyable but not standout imperial stout. Not a beer I'll pursue but one I'll be happy to fall back on from time to time.

Pours black as can be. Relatively thin light tan head, but left nice lacing on the way down. Not a huge smell, but very malty. Love how it hits the mouth. Many people complain about CW stouts not being thick/heavy, but I don't have that complaint, I think the mouthfeel is very good. And the taste is really great, leaves something to chew on. Overall definitely like this stuff. Easy to forget about the decent ABV on this one, very drinkable. Would like to try on tap sometime.

Appearance - Very dark brown. Hard to tell, but appears mainly clear. Medium tall, light brown head. Short-lived.

Smell - Rich dark and medium malts. Dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, raisin - more of the former. Not getting any hops or alcohol.

Taste - Dark malt. Bitter dark chocolate, coffee, burnt toast dominate. Undertone of molasses and raisin. A little alcohol. Rich and tasty.

Mouthfeel - Full and smooth.

Overall - Now this is a winter beer. Rich and slow sippin'.
